The media and liberals would respect it and would not make it an issue. It would barely get any press or attention. Hillary is being attacked for being a woman.
I can't speak for all liberals, but I would have exactly the same reaction. As for the media, I don't know if it would a critical thing, but they'd talk about it a lot.

Reading comprehension fail. Gerald Ford never was a Presidential candidate, he wasn't even a VP candidate, being appointed VP after VP Spiro Agnew's resignation. As most of us know, he then succeeded Nixon, without ever being a candidate. Now you know.

Considering the right-wing's response, I would expect that everyone on the opposite side would have pretty much the same response if trump got sick. After all, fairness, or unfairness, goes both ways.
