GOP may or may not win the White House in 2020 ... but they are going to have to ditch both the White resentment bigots and the "Religious Right" bible thumpers. If they double down on catering to fear, ignorance, and resentment they will lose their 4th presidential election in a row.

America ain't doomed, my friend. Take a deep breath and and get a grip- we are still pretty darned strong, especially in comparison to the rest of the northern hemisphere. We don't brag about holding fast like England does- we just do it.

If Clinton wins, it won't be the enod of your world as you know it, but it could force the Republican party to finally recognize the 21st century is here, and the 20th century won't ever return.

If that happens, then the Republicans could reasonably win in 2020. If it doesn't happen, then Clinton will be re-elected if she wants another 4 years.

She may not want another term. The next 4 years are going to be even more tense, fraught with divisiveness, with more challenges from abroad and from at home, than it has been in the past 8 years. The winner is going to be beaten up much more than Obama was, no matter who wins. Much more frequently, too.

But doom?
no.

We have been beaten up as a nation much worse than this before, and we can take a lot harder hit than the last 16 years have given us. Don't panic up yourself all up just yet. For sure, there is worse to come. We may stagger, but we won't fail. Never have yet, in over 250 years.

But if you have a bad case of chickenskin right now, you my want to consider fleeing while the getting out is still easy. We who stay won't miss you when you're gone.
I completely agree with this post. We are not doomed, regardless of who wins the election. If Hillary wins, it may be a third Obama term. Which is not the worst thing in the world, considering the economy is relatively strong and no major wars going on. Terrorism is a problem but not an existential threat. I think our biggest problem long-term is going to be the National debt, which oddly enough neither candidate seems to be talking about.
If Trump wins, it might seem like doom to some, but relax. He won't be able to actually do a fraction of what he says he would do (like build the wall, ban Muslims, nix free trade) - two little things called Congress and the Constitution will see to that. Mostly it will just be embarrassing.

We've got the ability to weather some more.
Yup.
The day after the election, there will still be cows to be fed, kids to nurture, jobs to go to, roofs to be fixed before winter sets in, bills to worry about, singing and dancing to be done, and listening to guys arguing over coffee about how everything was a lot better when they were young.

Some folks will be bracing for a bad rainstorm or snowstorm on its way, while others will be packing water supplies to the car because the drought is drying up the city well.

The refugees will still be fleeing, there will still be wedding parties to attend, a sick parent or child who needs some bed rest, and the next episode to look forward to on TV. Some young fresh face will start out on a lifetime career while watching their old predecessor cut a retirement cake and leave everything in the dest for them to straighten out.

Somebody's gonna die while somebody else is busy being born. The election will not change any of that, and a billion other things, at all.

Agreed about being 1 term.

The liberal Justices have nearly always cast votes which are against the Constitution.

Seriously none of that is going to happen; it is all just fear mongering.

BTW no one seriously thought Bush would win in 2004. Yet he did and Barack is in the WH because of his track record during his second term.
BO was elected because of his track record? Good grief. Do you consider it a good track record to either be absent or vote "present?" You have got to be joking! He has done nothing in his life but be a "community organizer" which can usually be identified by stirring protesting against the laws/Constitution and anything else that people who are usually on welfare and/or don't want education or work or are druggies, etc. IMHO BO won because of very illegal manipulating of the voting. BO has no experience or understanding of the real world. His 8-year mess shows that in spades. It will come out one of these days.

Trump has already shared his list of names from which he will submit for confirmation from the Senate. Where have you been?

Smart man! Tells you that he understands the mess in Washington and how he (and anyone else trying to make a successful business in the middle of a Washington, D.C. mess) knows inside and out what kind of people he has to deal with to make business work; i.e., pay me or you will be harassed with fees, regulations, etc., etc. Knowing this and having had to deal with same, he understands what needs to be done to get rid of this crap and get back to government by, for and of the people.

Remember, Nixon's mistake was in trying to protect/shield his people. What Hillary has done is absolutely criminal and all her moves are for herself. Absolutely 360 degrees in the opposite direction.

But trust can be earned, and I think that Trump would actually be a very effective president, which would bring many of those voters around come 2020. For all the talk about chaos and instability, those who work for Trump or who have worked for him paint a far different picture.

Disclosures! They can't say anything.
