I really think 2020 will be determined by the D's candidate. If they go with another one that struggles to get people to the polls like Gore, Kerry, or H Clinton Trump has another chance to win the electoral vote. I don't think Trump can win the popular vote even if GOP voters united behind him but then again it doesn't matter. Electoral college is how the winner is determined.

Bottom line is that there really is no cut and dry case that Bernie would have won, he was probably the better candidate in a pool of pretty bad candidates.
There was no shaky performances in the debates. Hillary might be expected to do a little better as she knew the questions before they were asked.

I'm sure there were more, but these two come to mind quickly when I think about his goofs and weakness in the debates.

Why in the world would you not attack on this, shows how completely naive he is:

"The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!"

This one doesn't even require any further commentary:

I did. I'm not going to go back and find it but I did say it was a mistake for him to say that.

We see statements from people every single day that proves that true.

We see statements from people every single day that proves that true.
SO then we agree that the email comment was clearly a major debate strategy flaw on his part. I don't care what a statistically irrelevant sample of "people we see every day" have to say, the fact is that there are millions of white people in this country that know quite well what the conditions are like because they live and/or work in them.

Yes it was.

Similar generalizations can be quoted from every single candidate that ever ran for president.

Where is Trump's health care plan that everyone is going to love?

Based on the email issue alone you can say he was shaky in the debates, I mean that was by some accounts a fatal mistake to let that slide, and let it slide in such a brazen manner no less. Its like he spiked the football on a loss, made no sense.

As for Trump, thats a post-debate revelation. At the time of the debates while he was running his mouth about it, people were buying it, which means that unfortunately it was a good and effective strategy, one that he obviously would have trouble using again based on the last few days news.

A decent candidate could have presented a real, actual plan with ideas and pressed Trump for more than platitudes. Sanders presented actual plans for his ideas. This is the kind of things that sway the middle.

The "plans" Sanders were not based in reality. Free tuition, free health care, minimum wages double what they are today. He was no different than the kid running for class president promising longer summer recess. No way to get any of it done, and probably detrimental in the long run. Most productive members of society were aware of this, and know it was just his attempt at trying to buy votes.
