Political Radar: Ohio Guv Won't Run with Obama

Quote:
Asked on NPR's "All Things Considered" if he is auditioning to be Obama's running mate, Strickland said, "Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve.

So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be."
His state will be one of the key battlegrounds. This is good news for McCain.

Strickland is a first term Gov. I doubt if he would have had much effect anyway, personally I'm glad he's taken himself out of the running.

I don't know how this would be good for McCain. Unless you stopped reading the article, right after he said the he wouldn't serve.

Despite his Shermanesque dismissal of being Obama's No. 2, the former minister and prison psychologist said he is committed to seeing Obama elected president.

June 5, 2008:

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, one of the most ardent Hillary Clinton backers, has now thrown his support to Barack Obama.

Strickland has been mentioned as a potential vice president for Obama, as he is the governor of what has been a critical battleground state.

Governor Ted Strickland issued the following statement this afternoon:
"Today, I announce my wholehearted and enthusiastic support for Barack Obama for President of the United States.

Earlier today I talked with Sen. Hillary Clinton. I thanked her for her friendship and the strong effort she put forth in this historic campaign.
I pledged to work with her to unify the party and to make sure that Barack Obama wins the presidency.

Ohioans have suffered as a result of the failed policies of the Bush Administration, including job loss as a result of rising fuel prices. Ohioans desperately want real, meaningful change. And I believe Barack Obama will bring that change."

You continue to provide a great deal of LEVITY with your interpretations of what is good for Mortician McCain. If they asked the Unabomber if he'd be Obama's running mate and he said no, somehow you would interpret THAT as being good for the mortician.

Keep trying. Good to witness the kinds of voters who will help McFossil lose by a landslide.

Ohio is a key battleground state as is Michigan and Pennsylvania. I think Obama will win two out of the three. Just a guess.

I thought he would be a fairly likely choice, I guess my sentiments now are that he might select Webb.

Ohio could go either way. Usually when choosing from Governors, you want one that might help bring in that swing state.

McCain will probably take Oh.
