And as always, ProudCapMarine's thread title is misleading. "NBC jokes" is not an accurate way to describe what are really SNL jokes. Very different things.
I watched Saturday Live last weekend, I thought it was making fun of New York Times reporters. I mean, the article on supposed incest was written by a character who was a complete idiot (who was subsequently killed and eaten by a polar bear riding a snow mobile), and the title of the article didn't even make sense.
You do realize that this is the same show that asserted that Hillary had male genitals the week before, you didn't see her getting all up in arms did you?
I would think that saying Hilary has male genitals is different than saying you RAPED your own daughters. You can't see the difference?
I don't think most people were laughing at the incest part, they were laughing about the way the statement was justified.
Exactly. What I took from the skit, quite frankly, was a a bit of an indictment of the press, and how they jump on imaginary soap operaesque reporting (if you watch the skit, you recall they took a reporter off of a real topic to go fling mud), and of course, they were making fun of the provincialism of new yorkers (omg, Alaska doesn't have Thai delivery, there is no way I could survive there for six weeks), which is as easy to do as shooting fish in a barrel.

How do you find it misleading? You don't think NBC doesn't know the content of the shows they air?
I watched the skit and was unoffended. I took it to be a dig at the media, who will report anything without substantiation. In no way did they imply that Todd was having sex with his daughters; the implication was that anything can become fact in the media if repeated often enough. Hence McCain repeating the same lies over and over again.
I saw it. Heavy sigh. This is the reason that this world is the way that it is: People don't have the ability to understand inferences. This skit was about the press not the Palins. Now, if you want to have a discussion about all of the lines of political humor that SNL has done let's do that. There was one in particular that was personally offensive and stereotypical re: Clinton and Obama.
I guess I could have made a post about the fact that I didn't find it funny and offensive but I realized that it's SNL an institution that has made tons of money (and laughs) off of some repugnant things.
Not offended based on the fact that IT'S A COMEDY SHOW.
People talk about the skit, people do polls about the skit, but apparently most people didn't see the skit. So it's fair to bash people you don't know and never meet. Understood!
