Reid has a point. Now is not the time for political posturing. McCain hasn't made a vote since April 2008 but now all of a sudden he wants to work?

Ben Smith's Blog: Reid: McCain return 'would not be helpful' - Politico.com

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in a statement that would be unlikely to go out without the Obama campaign's approval, dismisses McCain's suspension:
This is a critical time for our country. While I appreciate that both candidates have signaled their willingness to help, Congress and the Administration have a process in place to reach a solution to this unprecedented financial crisis.

I understand that the candidates are putting together a joint statement at Senator Obama’s suggestion. But it would not be helpful at this time to have them come back during these negotiations and risk injecting presidential politics into this process or distract important talks about the future of our nation’s economy. If that changes, we will call upon them. We need leadership; not a campaign photo op.

If there were ever a time for both candidates to hold a debate before the American people about this serious challenge, it is now.

Stupid Harry could slap a wet noodle down.

They need someone like McCain to lead them, their leaders Reid and Pelosi have failed our country and need all the help he can get.

Again, Reid and the libs are selling us out because McCain wants to help out.

Now, Harry, why would McCain not be of help, afterall he is a senator you stupid moron!

To bad Harry Reid wouldn't have enough brains to come up with this.

WAY TO GO JOHN !!

The real leader has stood up.

He's not helping out. IT'S HIS JOB. A job that he has suspended (for lack of a better word) since April. This is political posturing at it's best. He really thinks that the American people are this stupid?

McCain is not needed in the resolution of this problem because he is a part of the problem. I don't blame Reid for urging McCain to stay away.

McCain needs to debate Obama here and take his licking like a man.

Lets see how the follower Obama reacts to this??

Cannot wait to see the nutcases next move....

Obama has 3000 advisers and McCain of course is ten steps ahead of the selfish one again.

I think that Harry Reid has already responded on behalf of Obama. Next question?

It isn't his JOB, its the JOB of the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee, chaired respectively by Sen. Christopher Dodd and Rep. Barney Frank. If an when the measures come out of committee and reach the Senate floor, then John McCain can make all the arguments that he likes.

Why is it necessary to give a 5th grad civics class to Republicans? I suspect that Republicans want smaller government not because of any real ideological reasons but because the don't have a clue as to how it works.
