One of the great conservative thinkers of the US, Solicitor General under Reagan, even after expressing support for McCain in January

has just announced that he has cast his ballot for OBAMA!

Thinking people love Obama.

Reagan Appointee and (Recent) McCain Adviser Charles Fried Supports Obama - The Plank (http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/10/24/reagan-appointee-and-recent-mccain-adviser-charles-fried-supports-obama.aspx - broken link)

This is actually giving me some faith in this country. People aren't being dogmatic. They're thinking.

The Republican Party 2012 could be very promising.

From your wikipedia link:
"In September 2005, Fried testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the nomination of John Roberts to become Chief Justice of the United States. After the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court, Fried praised Alito as an outstanding judge but dismissed claims that Alito is radical, saying, "He is conservative, yes, but he is not radically conservative like Scalia."[1] Fried testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Alito, as well."

Socially conservative with some libertarian thrown in, which is pretty common for Republicans. And yet voting Obama. Hmmmm, makes ya think.

I'm actually thinking people are just waking up, although there is a caveat to this. Unfortunately, republicans had to wait until it hit them in the pocketbook to do the right thing, but better late than never.

Sadly, the religious right in the Republican Party has chased away all their thinkers, the moderates who actually wanted what was best for the country as a whole rather than pushing a twisted religious social agenda on the country.
Having only one party is unhealthy for the free exchange of ideas that is supposed to happen in a democracy.
We need at least two parties, but unless the Republicans can do some serious house cleaning, that won't happen.

The Republicans are doing a disservice to the entire nation by allowing religious radicals to control the party. Look at Bush. Look at Palin. It does not appear to disturb them how inept their candidates are, so long as they are 'born again'. Many people knew Bush would be a disaster. But those giving the warning were the mainstream religious and (gasp) non-religious. Heathens, actually.

Unless the Democrats become cocky and extreme, I don't see how they can lose in this and future elections.

Why do you have to explain what type of liberal he is? I was just posting the site for people that didn't know him. I made no comments yet you seemed to make a vast number of assumptions.

Now wait just a minute, I'd NEVER call Scott McClellan a great "thinker" or Republican Intellectual...

Oh, wait, sorry. Didn't realize it was another guy. Honestly, with all the Republicans supporting Obama it can get confusing.

Oh, I didn't realize that people didn't know how to look up a name on the Internet themselves and needed you to do it or that that was something you typically do. Notice how I asked why you were posting as you strangely offered no contextualization. People have to assume when you fail to do that.

And again, Fried isn't a liberal as most people here use the term.
