Most republicans don't favor smaller government. Notice that the government has steadily increased in size, regardless of democrat or republicans. This is because most modern day politicians are neo-conservative. The neo cons mainly favor perpetual warfare (never-ending war) and globalism (empire building). It is a rather radical ideology compared to 1776 thinking of small government, checks/balances, and no entangling alliances.

Mccain and obama are neo conservative. They favor all of the above values and we mainly vote on the minor irrelevant differences of the two candidates. Fundamentally though, they are both the same in their core values.

No matter who wins - government will continue to increase, your liberties will go down the drain, and your wealth will slowly be drained off.

I hate to say this but unfortunately most do not realize this and probably never will.

If you're so ashamed, vote with your feet. The people of your state who are capable of separating the man from the party probably won't miss you.

"Smaller government" is just rhetoric. Remember that Bush campaigned on that spiel back in 2000 and it turned out to be a crock.

Anyway....55-44%. By Texas standards that's pretty close.

Yes and we all know why those cities (minus Ft Worth) voted for Obama. I haven't looked up the stats but I can pretty much guarantee that my county here voted HEAVILY Republican.

I am proud to see the statistics that Texas still voted Republican. perhaps maybe now is the time to think about secession, Republic of Texas.

Let us pray for our country and brace ourselves for what's to come. I'm fixin' to go to work on post, and it will not be a very happy place today because of our new Commander in Chief.

I don't live in Texas, but being that McCain won their state I would say that it shows they are one of the few states who actually did their research and voted wisely.

I also applaud Texas for remaining conservative and not allowing liberals to completely take over. Yes I know liberals have moved to Texas in recent years, but Texas won't be changed and that says a lot about the strength of the state.

My husband in Afghanistan said this in his email to me today:
"The mood here is very somber. It is almost like we've lost a troop in combat."
