Lord gimme a BREAK already!!! ha Ha ha!!!

Perhaps if you titled the topic with some remote attempt at accuracy, such as "Republican John Boehner 'worried' about deficit" instead of just lumping all Repubilcans together in a drive by hit piece, you might actually encourage some meaningful dialog.

Heck, not only are there some Republicans concerned about the growing deficit, I'm willing to bet there are even a few Democrats who are also concerned. In Boehner's case, it is a joke, but then again Boehner isn't "all" Republicans.

Keep in mind that Democrats have been MUCH bigger spenders than Republicans, even during the Bush Administration! Keep in mind the GOP had a much higher percentage of votes against the TARP and Big 3 Bailout than the Democrats.

Look at the National Taxpayer Union ratings. The Democrats had a median score of 6% (house and senate average of medians), compared to a median score of 73% for Republicans. What this says is that, when given the option of voting for lower spending or against higher spending, Democrats chose this option 6% of the time vs 73% of the time for Republicans. That gives Republicans the edge more than 12:1 in voting in favor of YOU, the taxpayer. The bigger the Democratic majority, the worse the spending bonanza gets. Keep in mind, they are spending YOUR money (assuming you pay federal income taxes).

It makes no sense for taxpayers to be excited about the Democrats having a supermajority.

You do realize that Ron Paul is a republican and worries about the deficit among others... I do think it is hypocritical of Republicans in "general" to worry about the deficit since they helped create one of the biggest deficit in the century... but I am not ignorant (aka hold to ideology) enough to blame all Republicans, just most of them... that's why I supported Ron Paul... I knew McCain and Obama would make the deficit even worse... so I think it is hypocritical of liberals/democrats to say anything about Bush's deficit when Obama will more than likely trump Bush on it...

I totally agree. Wa-a-ay too many generalizations on this forum. Oy vey! "All dems are screaming about this." "All republicans are screaming about that." Enough, already!

Maybe we should the word "all" to the dirty word list so it can get automatically bleeped out.

Meanwhile... congrats on getting your medal! Woo hoo!

Of course, it's not fair to make sweeping generalizations. That said, if I had to choose, I'd MUCH rather allow Republicans to decide how much of our money Government spends instead of Democrats. You can compare the ratings of Pelosi, Frank, Reid, Schumer, Durbin etc vs McConnell, Boehner, Blunt and other Republicans. The differences are clear and will become more clear as the new Congress and Obama administration move forward.

Well I do understand how this generalization came to be, mostly because at many levels it is true. When given full reign and control over spending by majority rule, Republicans spent money like a drunken sailor on leave. Sadly, those Republicans were cringed at this behavior did little to stop it for some sick twisted reason like Reagans 11th commandment, "Thou shalt not criticize fellow Republicans". Idiots, no way to run a country.

I don't expect things to improve under full Democratic majority but I'll keep my council until after a year, as times are crazy now with the economy so a little harder to judge. I'm cautiously optimistic with Obama, but far more cynical when it comes to Reid and Pelosi with their calculators. Hope for the best, expect the worst, what else is there.

And thank you very much, I earned it the hard way... in PoC, one point at a time and a critic to all.
