Obama himself is a racist, so how could his election end racism? Or haven't you been paying attention to the events of the last year (Rev. Wright, etc). Obama listened to this racism for some 20 years, so we have to assume he agrees with Wright.
Can you imagine if a White politician attended a church for 20 years where the pastor for example blamed most of America's problems on the high crime/murder rate in the Black community, his career as a politician would be as dead as Chevy Chase's movie career.

Man, if this is the attitude the GOP is screwed for at least the next decade.
Well, I didn't comment on the GOP candidate (Palin was great, but McCain ... ) But there was no choice, if you are a Republican, or conservative, there is no way you were going to vote for Obama, who is left of the leftists, unless you were making some kind of statement; i.e., as I said, it was fashionable to be for Obama.

Honestly, the Republicans just have no clue right now, and that's why they lost. They even started to trash their own candidate (Palin) who was really the only conservative running.

The trashing of Palin was all nonsensical. They called her dumb (they always call Republicans dumb), but Obama is far from the brightest bulb, and his running mate (now VP elect) is a joke. They criticized and laughed at her for her colloquialisms and dropping "g"s from "ing" words (Obama does that, and also uses vernacular). They criticized her clothing (but that was bought for her, and wasn't kept, besides they all are "dressed" by the Party).

They refused to acknoledge that as a Governor that experience had value. However, what experience does Obama have? None (except for being a largely absentee Senator, rarely showing up to vote or voting "present"). Oh, and of course he was a "community organizer", for ACORN, no less. Wonderful. That's certainly valuable experience.

Enough said, but you're right about the present state of the GOP. They had better get their act together, or we're in for a long wait to bring conservatism and limited government (the values of our founders) back.

Exactly. Look what they did to Trent Lott for an innocent remark. They said he supported racism and ran him out of town.

As it should be.

The Rev. Wright, however, didn't say anything so far-fetched.

If, during your lifetime, blacks had kept members of your race in slavery because of their skin color; if, during your lifetime, blacks had withheld education to your race while declaring it to be an essential freedom for all human beings; if, during your lifetime, blacks had committed your race to medical experimentation; if, during your lifetime, blacks tailored the drug laws of the country so that your race was preferentially locked up at much higher rates and for much longer sentences; if, during your lifetime, blacks had not even allowed you to serve the defense of your country unless you were segregated - separated out from the 'normal' soldiers --

If all that was going on, many people would understand if you said something like what the Rev. Wright said.

Ended? Naw...

It's has made racism a little less fashionable in some circles, though.

On the other hand, it has certainly underscored the racist tendencies of some who find the thought of an AA president too much to bear.

Has Obama's election ended racism?

Not when we're still seeing incidents like the one below or even reading some of the unbelievable comments that are made on CD.

This type of injustice has to stop!

This is direct quote from an article in Essence: Rash of Black Men Killed by Police Raises Unanswerned Questions.

"One of the officers has a previous shooting like this in his background and is known for his racist and violent tactics," says Jenkins. "We're still waiting for the FBI to finish their investigation. When the neighbors learned the FBI was on the scene, they came out and gave some very good information. They were fearful of giving anything to the N.O.P.D."
