These are just a few of the little pieces of pork.
Where's the pork?
NBC broke down some of the bigger numbers in the bill, for example: $275 billion in tax relief, $90 billion for infrastructure, $79 billion for school funding, etc. Sounds good, right? But in the fine print, there's a lot of proposed spending that may raise a few eyebrows. In an interview with President Barack Obama, CBS' Katie Couric called him on some of the more unusual proposals:

See, that's interesting. $800 million for Amtrak for "projects for the repair, rehabilitation, or upgrade of railroad assets or infrastructure." And so that money will be spent on goods and services and salaries to put those goods and services to use. The funds that the suppliers of the goods and services receive for their goods and services can be used to purchase other goods and services. Sounds to me like the purpose of a stimulus.
I don't think anyone is seriously doubting that spending money on repairing highways counts as stimulus; why doesn't this?
By the way, check out the readthestimulus web site. (No link, because it's blogish so I'm worried it would get deleted.) It's linked to from the above article. Pretty neat.
Yes, Couric ASKED him about some of it and he replied in an intelligent way and explained it.
And:
""However, both sides have signaled a willingness to concede. In an interview with CNN, Obama said he would consider cutting items that "may not really stimulate the economy right now." And in the spirit of bipartisanship, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) are working together to compile a list of recommended cuts, with a goal of reducing the bill by $200 billion."""
Anyone finding fault with that HAS a job.....for now.....

Yes I remember you read it interpreted by The Heritage Foundation. If you can point to the actual bill I would respect your question.
There is some hope of cooler minds prevailing. An article in Wednesday's Washington Post reports that Senate Democrats don't have enough votes to enact the current version of this pork-stuffed bill.
Read the full article. Much of it is buried in grants to be administered later and in aid for cities. Much more in the article. The question is not only where's the pork but where's the beef?

In response Senate Republicans offered their own, cheaper economic stimulus plans focused on tax cuts – it’s a plan priced at $445 billion, half the cost of Democratic version which totals $885 billion.

More to read in the article for you to digest and then support or refute. I don't think Joe was involved like Nancy was in the House debacle.
Obama isn't responsible for the pork, the selfish House Democrats porked the bill up. Obama, because he didn't want to step on any legislative toes, left aspects of the bill up to Congress which turned out to be a mistake because House Democrats, instead of realizing that this was a bill to stimulate the economy, added pet projects. If Bush was still in office, or if there was a Republican majority then I suspect House Republicans would have done the same. I find it terribly selfish though because it reflects badly on Obama, even if he isn't responsible for it. Pelosi needs to get her troops back in line and they just need to sit down and shut up and get a bill out that won't give that douchey Rush Limbaugh and the Republicans in Congress as much to complain about.

""""focused on tax cuts""
Don't have to read any farther...tax cuts do NOT stimulate the economy but talking about them stimulates those who support Repubs.
Repubs know how shallow the public is and need only to hear "tax cut" as opposed to "raise taxes" and that's all they need for support of the masses.

This is priceless. Are you really so deluded to think that your leader, the great and mighty b. hussein, is sitting back helplessly while the House democrats porked up this ridiculous plan? You can't be serious. Let's put it this way...your guy is the puppeteer and all his little loony leftie cohorts are the puppets. Actually, judging from your post, I should include all the rest of you loons who voted for him in the puppet category. Unbelievable.
