I live in the District and have for years. There is no way it will happen UNC students did not even vote for Reagan neither did Durham residents. The last time the district went for a Republican was before they took Person, and most of Chatham counties out of it.

Same here, lived here for almost 10 years. They said the same thing about Kennedy's seat. Also, housing prices always go up. Still believe that one? The 4th also includes Morrisville, Cary, Apex, and Holly Spring heavily white and crunchy granola RTP types who like Lawson's message more than Price's. Price isn't black so he's got that going against him for the white guilt and african-american crowd.

The anti-Bush rhetoric is gone and since Lawson outpolled McCain and his policies are pro-crunchy granola and enviro-feel goods, it's safe to say the triangle folks will want the change they never got in 2008. Many of the african-americans in durham were only attracted to the polls b/c of Obama and will not show up for 2010.

I do not buy it John Dehart tried that exact kind of campaign for the town council in Chapel Hll just last November and came in 7/8 candidates.

I never believed that about housing prices and David Price is no Martha Coakley. Price always has mediocre performances in Wake county, but that does not matter, because of Chapel Hill and Durham.

Even without the anti-Bush rhetoric the district voted for Clinton and Gore. On top of that even before Obama left the Hawaiian islands Durham was going solidly democratic and there is no reason to believe that that will not continue.

Chapel Hill is not Cary, Apex, Holly Spring, or Morrisville. MUCH more practical people there who aren't straight party ticket morons, plus this is a midterm election which focuses the election on the non-ignorant and less easily brainwashed partisans. Also, was Dehart pro-pot and anti-Traitor Act?

Lawson didn't out poll McCain, they pretty much put up the exact same numbers. Even with a more favorable GOP climate from a political and turnout perspective the GOP doesn't have a chance in hell here. You don't lose by 27 points and come back and win the next election, even if the political climate is much stronger in your favor.

LOL. Chapel Hillers will be smoking dope or getting laid and Durham folks don't have a token black politician to vote for.

Was Lawson running then with his pro-crunchy granola policies? The people of Chapel Hill aren't that dumb to vote for someone based on the letter beside their name. If they are, they won't be showing up in a midterm election.

Read what I said about Wake County. BTW viewing Chapel Hillians are brainwashed and impractical is part of the reason why Republicans cannot win the 4th district. As to Dehart, he was a local candidate so those issues really did not come up. The fact of the matter though is he promoted himself in the exact same way as being a green, hope and change, conservative and ended up getting destroyed in the election...And that was a local election, if that happens in a local election you can bet that worse will happen to that type of candidate in a national election when people actually show up to vote.

I polled at the Morrisville fire station and have spoken to the straight party ticket morons at the Flying Saucer downtown who later regretted their decision after hearing about Lawson's Pittsboro Plenty program. Many only came because of Obama. A HUGE chunk of that 27% will be eliminated when these guys skip the booth this year.

Since then, the Federal Reserve has become front and center since the economy is in the cr@pper. Guess who's for it and who's against it?
