He's just another teeny bopper that no one will remember by the time he's thirty. Hopefully, he has good parents that will keep him from succumbing to the normal pitfalls these types seem to encounter after the fame is gone ie drugs, alcohol, etc....

No need to hate on the kid although since I'm not a 14 year old girl I haven't a clue what he sings and as a musician I don't respect him or artists like him that get handed their material by a crack team of producers and song writers who meticulously plan their material based on the latest trends.

Perhaps he will be one of the few teen idols that actually manages to have an adult career and grows enough to write their own material (Alanis Morisette and Michael Jackson come to mind) but I seriously doubt it.

they're still around
Their last album was quite good
Daniel Johns (lead singer) got sick for a while though

As far as I know, Silverchair is still active. I totally forgot about them. Really liked their first CD.

Big difference in my respect level between Beibs and Silverchair because Silverchair actually wrote and played their own material.

Ok, I'm in my 30's, and I don't hate JB but like someone else said before, I hate what he represents. Anyone who sees him as a threat to their past music idols are delusional. He's a tween accessory, marketed and catapulted into the spotlight and instantly making millions - with people just jumping onto the bandwagon of popularity. In the 80's, we had a ton of talent, but popularity was earned, not forced. JB seems to me like good kid that unfortunately got too much too quickly, and I hope he doesn't screw up his life because of it.

Yes, Silverchair are still performing & recording.

They did write their own music, and even though the times are different - they were not marketing machines.

Wether we like him or not, His mother deserves all the credit. She obviously is a very smart woman to brodcast her son on you tube where he gets discovered and has now made millions and will never have to be at a dead end job working 40 freaking hours a day for ungreatful bosses.

My applaus to his mother, mom really knew what to do !!

That's a guy? Wow. Well, 'he' has a girls voice. He acts like a girl. He also acts black which is really odd. He's not smart.

I just think he's gay, but the other things are reasons why people don't like him... it's kind of obvious ONLY girls and gays like him.

He was also stupid for making a movie about him when he's SO young. He's not a legend or anything so making a movie at such a young age was very odd and a big mistake since it didn't do good either.

He's also selfish and uses the money he gets to buy things he doesn't need... he can put the money he makes in a bank but he wastes it like most dumb celebrities.

He doesn't have true skill with instruments. It's EASY to make pop songs cause you pick a beat that takes 5 minutes to make, then you create lyrics... very simple compared to rock stars who practice on the guitar for years and years then creates a band with other members who are skilled with instruments.

I still don't have much feeling on him one way or another, but his fans are starting to annoy me a little.

Hell hath no fury like a Belieber scorned – The Marquee Blog - CNN.com Blogs

(In fairness they apparently got along fine on meeting and the animosity is just with some of his kookier fans)

That's your opinion. I think he yelps and sings too high pitched for my liking.

Don't count that out yet. People said the same about Miley Cyrus, now she's troubled herself.

And I bet you his parents see every red cent of that money and Beiber Dweeber will be bankrupt, homeless, shooting heroine and trying to sue his mommy and daddy for that money.
