I work from home and am looking to relocate to Vida area and hopefully find a home along the McKenzie River Hwy so I can watch and hear the river flow from my deck. I'm in my mid 50's so not a partier but do love riding my Harley and meeting new friends.

Any suggestions on area or any other surrounding areas -or rivers- where I could find that WITHOUT much snow if any? Love rain, hate snow!

Also, How far is Vida from major cities for Walmart, fastfood, dining, shopping ect?

thanks in advance...........

It is about 35 to 40 minutes to Springfield/Eugene and major shopping from Vida. McKenzie riverfront property is rather pricey, but you probably already know that.

If costal rivers are a possibility, the Siuslaw would be a good choice. On the road between Eugene and Florence is Mapleton. Lots of riverfront properties in all price ranges. Make sure you get a place well above the water or that has been raised up... the river floods regularly, but if you like the rain, Mapleton would be the ideal place for you.

The Mohawk valley, east of Springfield or Fall Creek is another possibility.

Good Luck!

Not sure what you do for work but just wanted to mention that high speed internet rates are very hard to find outside of Eugene/Springfield.

As an fyi, if they say they have high speed "satellite", don't do it. It is not like regular dsl or cable internet in any way, except both hook up to the internet.

The previous poster is correct, reliable internet can be spotty outside main areas and something you are going to want to make sure is available before you commit.

The National Broadband Map is a useful tool for finding high speed internet. It won't guarantee that you will be able to get good internet, but it will give you a general idea of what type of internet might be available in any given area.
