(PPP) in Slovenia: $28,073
GDP per capita (PPP) in Czech Republic: $24,950
GDP per capita (PPP) in Portugal: $23,262
GDP per capita (PPP) in Slovakia: $22,195
Central Europe is not as "poor" as many people seem to think and they are quickly catching up to the West. Compare these incomes to that of genuine EE countries:
Exactly, "usually". That's quite different than what you said before:
And I think we have established in the other thread (Netherlands vs. Denmark vs. Switzerland) that the CIA factbook isn't always accurate in its facts.
Anyway, it's a silly argument, let's move on.
I talked about "Northern Europe" and "Eastern Europe". Not "Central Europe".

GDP per capita is much lower in those countries (P.C.S.H.S.C.) than in Western Europe.
What's the picture supposed to tell us? I just supports the statement in bold.
BTW. You should look at the nominal GDP, not the PPP GDP. So I have to agree with the guy above me^^
Yeah i know many Eastern Europeans like that.
It's like an American saying to a foreigner they live in NYC/Los Angeles while they actually live in Albany/Bakersfield.
Or especially like telling SOME people from Northern Virginia or Maryland's DC suburbs that they are southerners, even those DC is below the Mason-Dixon Line. I kind of see the Iron Curtain the way I see the Mason-Dixon Line, as a permanent dividing line despite the conflicts being over.
I left out the small coutnries, the Netherlands, Belgium, etc are all Western Europe. Scandinavia is northern and western. Greece and Cyprus are Southern Europe.
How is it in any way propaganda? I just posted the GDP per capita of several countries that are typically considered Central-European and compared them with a West-European country (Portugal). Of course, everyone knows that there are wealthier countries in WE than Portugal but that's beside the point. If you are going to make a sweeping statement like "Central-European countries are much poorer than West-European countries" you can expect an response like that Or are you saying Portugal isn't a West-European country?
I don't know what you are trying to prove with those statistics because only 2 of them (the highest ranked in bold) are in Central Europe. I hope you don't seriously believe that the average person in Russia makes $15,612 a year, though. Russia has a higher income equality (measured by Gini coefficient) than any European country, much higher than the CE countries I listed. The "average" income is misleading because that is not what the vast majority of people earn.
Like Glucorious, I also wonder what you were trying to prove with that map of Catholicism you posted earlier. All it does is confirm that there is indeed a difference in religion between Central and Eastern Europe, so thanks... I guess

Uh, yeah? So did I?

Of course not, you should always look at the GDP per capita PPP when comparing countries. $1 in the USA doesn't buy you the same stuff as $1 in Ethiopia.
You are talking about a past that 90 percent of Europeans ignore.
People remember the IRON CURTAIN, THE BERLIN WALL and the countries that were beyond those walls (no matter how western they are) are Eastern Europeans.
.
For a while, after WWII, part of Austria (including Vienna) was behind the Iron Curtain and designated to be in the Soviet Zone, but got renegotiated back into a unified Austria. Do you mean that for a short time Austria got "moved" to Eastern Europe, and then back again? Other places that got shuttled back and forth between the East and the West several times in the 20th century were Danzig and Fiume/Rijeka.
Remember that the "country beyond the Berlin Wall" was WEST Berlin. The entirety of Berlin was behind the Iron Curtain, and the US, British and French sectors were an island surrounded by DDR. For some time, a highly celebrated airlift had to be instituted in order to supply food to West Berlin.

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT HISTORICAL, CULTURAL OR ECONOMICAL CONCEPTS......
I AM TALKING ABOUT WHAT COMMON PEOPLE UNDERSTAND NOWDAYS ABOUT EASTERN EUROPE. I AM AWARE THAT MANY COUNTRIES DO NOT LIKE TO BE CALLED EASTERN EUROPE SINCE HISTORICALLY THEY WERE CENTRAL EUROPE, THE BALCANS OR BALTIC STATES.
YES, DDR WAS EASTERN EUROPE (AND MANY GERMAN STILL CONSIDER THE AREA AS EAST GERMANY). YES, PRAGUE AND VIENNA WERE SWAPPED.
BUT EASTERN EUROPE IS STILL USED TO DESIGNATE THE AREA BY MOST PEOPLE.
I HAVE SEEN THAT MANY GUIDES AND PROGRAMS ARE USING "CENTRAL EUROPE" BECAUSE MANY WANT TO GET RID OF THE TAG PROVOKED BY RUSSIAN OCCUPATION AND COLD WAR.
