Sell crap to morons? That sound quite snobbish. Sometimes, when one's in a hurry, it's very convenient to eat in a fast food joint. McDonald's, thanks to their efficient marketing campaigns and willfullness to adapt to the local market, happens to be the most widespread. They're conveniently placed in high-trafficked areas (both cars and pedestrians) and are just part of some people's routine. José Bové is an epiphenomenon.

Default McDonalds is the biggest quick service chain

McDonalds is the biggest quick service chain in the world. As such it is a powerful symbol of the modern world and is frequently cited by people trying to argue a point.

TMI!

For some reason, whenever I go to McDonald's half the people in there are French tourists Maybe that says more about the reputation of Dutch cuisine though.

Because Caviar-Gauche, Gauche Divine and Leftist Doggieflutes hate Coke, Burger King and anything American. They prefer caviar, Dom Perignon, etc.

Gauche Divine are all wealthy, so they don't need to go to Mac Donalds. They have maids, shop at Wholefoods...

By the way, Macdolds Haters are imported from the US.

So, no McDonald's, but they still love it.

Mac Donalds and Coke are not perceived as "Anglophone", but as "imperialistic"...
It all comes from the Cold War.

It's only £9 for me to get tea, two packets of large fries, two packets of chilly wraps and of course a mcflurry.

Same here. In the summer we had Dutch people, Germans and French. I have never seen germans in Northern Ireland!
