Yeah, I don't think either that Anti-americanism is very common either, and usually it's either targeted at the government or at some aspects of the American lifestyle (obesity, car dependent culture...)

I had a great uncle who fought in WWII and he was sunk twice during this battle, both times by the English.

Needless to say, he hated the English for his whole life after that.

Not American cliché, it comes from Caesar. "Iberia took three centuries to conquer, the Gaul was conquered in a campaign, it was like cutting a fat paunch".

Translation:

The Gaul has always been richer, more bourgeois and with more food than Hispania and Germania. Hispania were mountains full of crazy people, Germania were woods full of crazy people. Illiria, crazy people.

actually, even Neanderthal (common in Western Europe) were conquered by Homo-Sapiens.

So, indeed, there is a long tradition of cowardice in Western Europe.

Anti-americanism would be a serious business in France? Really? Give me some example, some real and recent example, not some stereotypes.
That's one of the main problem, people seems to "know" France only with some stereotypes and their views of the country is very unaccurate.

When I compare popular media of both countries, well French-bashing is more widespread than anti-Americanism.
You mean examples like Jacques Chirac using anti-Americanism to whip up his voters? Or perhaps defacing cemeteries where American and British soldiers are buried in France? Small potatoes compared to Freedom Fries, for sure. The proof is in the pudding, the French enjoy an 87% approval rating among Americans. Like I said, one side is just some good-natured ribbing around about freedom fries and brie cheese. The other side has some people who take this stuff seriously.

To be fair and if I'm allowed to generalize, the people of southern France are some of the most hospitable, polite and fun-loving people there are. Unfortunately, that is contrasted by enough people who fit the snobby, elitist, anti-American stereotype in and around Paris along with much of northern France.

When and how? Is it really worse than the French bashing in American politics ?

Come on ! Many cemeteries are defected in France.
That's unfortunately a too common crime.

French bashing is much more than Freedom Fries. French couldn't care less about how American name potatoes chips.
But they care when some high ranking official call them "enemy" or the "next on the list" just because they were against Irak war. All the propaganda agains France during this time was ugly. There were nothing as bad in French media.

Paris is a big busy city where tourists are often in the way of locals. When you understand that Paris is not a theme park it goes better
This has nothing to do with anti-Americanism but the fact that the Paris is a working city with impatient locals.

What I mean to say that it's a cliché coming frm long ago...Vichy..Toulon, Larras, etc.

Or the blitzkrieg, which is errneus as French did what they could.

Not the same a flat and civilized country with large cities that countries that are all mountains packed with crazy goats...greece, romania, spain, switzerland, etc.

but if you prefer watching videos, you can start with this

https://www.youtube.com...
and then this :
https://www.youtube.com...;

anyway; if you start a sentence with "THE", you will probably going to say something wrong !

what you are telling is that having courage or beeing coward have something to do with genes
this is exactely what nazis use to talk about

denis75 you are absolutely right... I am tired of reading the hundreds of anti-French comments. Just read the comments under any articles, videos or other that speaks of france to read the same crap of "cheese eating surrender monkeys"...

But the worst is the Anglo-Saxon media (Hollywood, british tabloid etc.) that trade this propaganda without any limit...People do not really have an alternative source of information.

The only comfort is that we are not the only ones, our Russian brother can testify

No, but when societies are plush and burgeois, and more civilized, their inhabitants are considered "pimps" and their women "tarts" by ruder, poorer neighbours thant live on top of a mountains milking cows in walled little towns.

As to the British, hadn't been for the channel they would have invaded by absolutely everybody, so valiant they are not. Italians, too civilized.
