NATO is not a european creation, the US is the sole power in NATO,the UN is mostly used as a decor,it has no real power, the US is the only real power in the UN.

So the Scotland story about independence is also a tirade ?

We are going to oppress the Scottish. No chance in hell will they get independence - we'll make sure of it. Whatever it takes. Spain will do the same with Catalunya.

It would mean that the other countries would no longer be paying the U.K. a rebate, and that would be very welcome by all of them.

I think you would have a very big problem convincing most Americans of this.

1-No need to convince anybody,it is a fact, the Iraq invasion demonstrated clearly who is the boss in the UN.

2-if it was not serious issue for Britain, why would William Haigue try to convince Scots not to secede ?

Please do! The EU has only had trouble with the UK, America's spearhead in Europe. Most Europeans are more than fed up with a partner who is very keen in collecting profits, in the meanwhile lamenting like an old goat when they have to contribute.

It looks a lot like the US of A: both super powers, a long time in decline. A degrading infrastructure, large parts of the population hungry, education and health care down the drain and a Wall Street/London City making huge profits.

Let there be no misunderstanding: I truly believe that the Britisch people, as well as the Americans all dream the same modest dream: a decent life and a good future for their chiuldren.

Unfortunatly, we're ruled and have been ruled by the kind of war mongerers, who should be wipped off of the face of the earth such as Bush, Obama and Blair.

The UK is a massive contributor to EU funds - we need them, and they certainly benefit from having us.

The UK isn't a superpower, and isn't in a 'long time decline', either. The UK, as a place to live, is much better now than it was in the 70s and 80s, when it was the sick man of Europe, and rolling blackouts occurred.

Health and education aren't 'down the toilet' either. The situation is arguably worse in other countries. Sweden's education system looks like a complete joke. Not sure about degrading infrastructure, either - we're certainly ahead of the US, and improvements are occurring all the time - we're due the biggest railway investment since the Victorian era.

I'm not sure if you're American or not, but you're trying to apply America's problems to the UK, for some odd reason. We're alike in many ways, but rest assured, our education system is a bit better, our healthcare system is not expensive, our infrastructure is superior and our poverty rates are nowhere near as bad.
