That was how Al Qaeda in Iraq or Islamic State made such a rapid advance early on and armed themselves. Many of the soldiers in E. Ukraine are probably locals who looked the other way as the supply depots were raided by the resistance.
*sigh. An out of context quote lifted from Sputnik of all sources 15 months after the action I'm describing does not support your argument. This has nothing to do with the 2 weeks in August and doesn't even make sense that units would desert and turn their weapons right around and shoot the guys they just ran away from, they would be shot in the first place trying to do that. All but one of the people I know who fought in E. Ukraine were from E. Ukraine. Most of the ones who deserted were the western Ukrainians who didn't want to fight Russia for territory they didn't care about. This is still the case. They didn't go join the Russian army, that's for sure.
There were no army bases there to raid, and that was historically the last place the USSR needed to build bases. Other than an air defense unit and a national guard depot in Luhansk. Crimea and the West held the majority of Ukraine's armed forces. You could argue that the "rebels" were armed with Crimean weaponry and you'd be mostly correct, but their supply came through Russia.
Of course, the last place, access to the sea, a transport hub and heavy industry. Why warehouses?
That's Kharkov, quite another matter. Recently, the largest warehouse was burned down. Remember? It was so beautiful (video).
Crimean weapons were returned with inventory, but the fire in the warehouse in Kharkov hid all the evidence for good.
What do you think? How much and where did the weapons go?
And remember, at the beginning of the conflict, when people stopped tanks with their bare hands and grabbed them? Why did they send these frightened boys into the tanks?
And the environment, when sent a small force and a lot of weapons. And intercepted columns with weapons? Have you already forgotten?
No, Kiev itself did its best to equip the Donbas with the necessary and maximum. Since they do not need a victory, they need a war, preferably with the participation of Russia (which never came to battle)).
Under the conflict so easily robbed of any looting and lawlessness.nullnullnull

They did not raid supply depots in Russia supplying the bulk of ammunition, weapons and supplies to fuel this hybrid war. It is the fourth year of the war consuming ammunition by trainloads at the times. Local collaborants captured small quantities of weapons from demoralized Ukrainian army/police units in 2014, it is nowhere near to wage ww1 like war, relying on massive application of long range artillery and unguided missile launchers, for 3 years +. Ichoro what is your specific interest in shilling for the Russian fascists trying to dismember and consume Ukraine for no particular reason other than demented imperial fanthom lunacies? You wet your panties for the Russian fascists killing Ukrainians for 3 years +, is it something personal? Russian nazi contributors to this thread grew up in the toxic supremacist/imperialist environment, they know no other way. I am not sure who Scrat ethnic wise, but he passes as a latent necromaniac cheering for every Ukrainian death. What is your deal? Whitewashing Russian imperialism and its crimes is a common side effect among leftists of all creeds and nationalities. A genuine Pavlovian thing exacerbated by primitive contrarian perception of reality widespread among younger educated +/- surplus. Is it the case?

Amazing that Ukraine supplied the Donbas with more T-72's than Ukraine ever possessed! Quite a feat. Even more so when the Ukrainian army still has most of its own T-64s in service, so they must have used a cloning machine to supply Russian rebels with their own tanks. I don't even have to get into the version of tanks which Ukraine never had which magically appeared on their own with their own trained crew of Russian vacationers.
Sure a few were in the area and undoubtedly taken with the help of Russian special forces. Saw the videos and pictures. Also saw the pictures of many rebel tanks destroyed yet they seem to keep getting more despite controlling an area the size of Delaware and no access to the tank factory in Kharkov.
Are you seriously trying to argue that Ukraine's army bases were relocated to the Donbas away from their soviet bases? That's beyond bizarre, although I understand the Russian technique of throwing out any number of explanations to hide the truth. Look at Putin covering his buddy's war crimes in Syria.
Hearing there's a lot of Ukrainians moving into Crimea and not for vacation. No solid numbers yet but it appears to be in the thousands.
