I'm up for it. Fair warning though one of my favorite tools is a 4ft wrench I use to set torques on tread link bolts to 2500 ftlbs.

Russian candy bars have disturbing secret ingredient: blood

Quote:
This creepy candy bar kept Soviet-era children fed — and it’s still “in the red.”

Hematogen — a chocolatey, chewy snack with an oddly metallic aftertaste — was the go-to snack for Russian kids before the fall of the Soviet Union.

Made with beet sugar, condensed milk and sugar syrup, it’s also infused with a surprising secret ingredient: cow’s blood.

The popular nosh was created as a kid-friendly iron supplement. But while the label listed “black food albumin” — translation: blood — as an ingredient, most people didn’t know what they were eating, Munchies reports.

Alas, a generation of tots came to love the ubiquitous blood bars, which were cheaper and more accessible than candy. Now, these same Russian adults still have a soft spot for Hematogen — which is why it remains available to this day.

In fact, the twisted treat — it has the pliable texture of a Tootsie Roll — is still easier to find than one might think.

In addition to a horde of jumbo-pack options being sold on Amazon, “you can actually go out and buy it right now in New York,” at Russian specialty markets, says culture scholar Anastasia Lakhtikova, author of “Seasoned Socialism: Gender and Food in Late Soviet Everyday Life.”

Amused words "secret ingredient"

I'm afraid to even imagine what will happen to NYP if they learn about the russian procedure "sew into the body a poisonous capsule that is activated when drink alcohol"

Since this is the news in Russia thread:

A new Gallup poll showed 44% of Russians aged 15-29 would move to Europe or the USA if they could. That's 3 times the number of early 2014. Disenchantment with Putin and economic struggles and decline in real wages are cited as the most common concern.

In other news, mortality is spiking in Russia where 32 regions have shown an increased in mortality rates in 2018. This according to a Russian government official yesterday. Births have also been dropping, according to Rostat the first 5 months of 2018 had 28% fewer births than the same in 2017. This is contributing to overall population decline even after Asian migrants continue to move to Russia.

Good news for Putin lovers is Rostat will stop publishing income numbers which have shown real wages have fallen in the past 5 years.
