It isn't more Americanised than Germany really. Just take the UK speaks English and has Mcdonalds and American tv shows (like Germany btw) doesn't mean its ''most'' Americanised.

I'm going to vote for the UK, it's pretty close but it seems to me i'd prefer to live in the UK, especially because i already know the language. Another reason i prefer it is the presence of a city like London, which doesn't have many rivals in the World, there's so much going on there, nothing in Germany comes close.

Indeed. Actually, I think all of Europe is much less Americanized today than it used to be decades ago. There are few US products (due to poor quality or exaggerated price), there are lots of local alternatives in movies, music, food etc. as well, and they are appreciated by a lot of people, more so as they get out of the teenage age.
Life in Britain is as European as anywhere else on the continent, and that is not Americanized at all. It is really just the language that makes Americans think Britain is more Americanized.

One might even say that the US is more Europeanized these days, lots of German cars on the roads, TV shows of British origin (like those idol shows) etc.

The foundation of the US as a whole has basically always been just a mix of mostly British, German and to a lesser extent African-American culture.

Same can possibly said about the UK. You will certainly have a nice time in either place if you make the best out of it.
Well, I can complain about minor things (like the bus might be late, or traffic is bad), but there is nothing major here that I dislike. I enjoy my life, and consider myself lucky to be born here. I'd consider myself lucky to be born anywhere in Europe really, except the Balkans, Ukraine and Belarus (and Russia if we're including it).

And the UK isn't really Americanised. No more than Germany I'd say.

I think perhaps he is just referring to the 'Anglo culture' thing? Don't forget as an American he assumes that everything in the world is 'American' and its all a one way street (that's the impression I get from many Americans anyway). The fact that we share a language is a big factor in the 'Anglo' thing (which includes all English speaking nations)

in some ways I find German tastes are similar to Americans

When I was there I primarily was in what I guess were suburbs, and the guys I met were into watching sports, were ostensibly religious, liked to do stuff like mountain biking and wake boarding, etc. The food was very midwestern american. Potatoes, meat, beer. They were very sincere, and not ironic.

UK people I know seem much more urbanized and kind of sarcastic and cynical. Maybe they are like a New Yorker.
Whereas a German is like someone from Ohio.

That's because Ohio like many other parts of the Midwest is mostly of German origin.
