military family relocating to Stavanger, Norway (country, living, facts)

I am expecting to be in country in approx. 6 months and would like to know if there are many "first of all" things I need to be aware of. What things should we learn about, learn to respect and appreciate that we may not otherwise notice. My youngest son has asthma, should I be concerned more than normal or are their facilities that deal with asthmatics? Anything you can offer to enlighten us would be appreciated tremendously.

Norway is full of asthmatics so don't worry about that. In fact, if you have asthma you have great chances of starting a successful skiing career.

Stavanger is in a recession at the moment due to falling oil prices. I am pretty sure asthma is quite common in every Western country.
