I've eaten my way across the Netherlands, and I can't remember a disappointing meal. I wish I could shop at AH here on the west coast of the US - get some frikandel and tompoucen. Can't wait to go back, they have some great places in den Haag.
There are good restaurants in every country, but Dutch food, as in their national cuisine, is absolutely disgusting. It's not even bland, it's just crap.
English food is not very exciting. Neither is Swedish. Swedish food is pretty bland overall for most foreigners. But if you are happy with sill, boiled potatoes in dill, smoked salmon and many other seafoods, bloodpudding, kaviar , jansons frestelse , meatballs etc...then you would like it in Sweden.
Now, Mediterranean and middle eastern food is the best!
