Anyone here know the best exercises to work the lower abs? I regularly do reverse and medicine ball crunches, but would like to see if anyone has other suggestions. I 've also read up on decline weighted crunches, but have not experimented with them just yet...
^^ actually thats not true... cardio doesnt define abs.. abs are defined through trunk flexion (or other forms of trunk movements). Depending on the cardio (running etc) there is liited, if any, trunk movement.
As mentioned previously, lower abs are built up through ab exercises and are most visible when body fat is low (you can still have developed muscles underneath layers of fat, you just cant see them).
My obliques are visible as are the "upper four" abs, now I'd like to get definition in the lower region, which is the is the difficult part. Even when I weighed in at 145 at 5'7" and was on my HS track team (sprints), I never had the full 6 pack. Maybe it's genetics
In the least, I have made a new goal for myself this summer: drop body fat to 10-11% (currently at about 13%). This coupled w/a targeted ab routine should get the results I'm looking for...
This leads me to another question: Anyone here have a 6 pack and if so, what is your BF%?

I say start experimenting with them. There are a number of really good ab books on the market, you should pick up on or two or even three of those. Also, do a YouTube search of ab routines and you'll get how-to vids for all different types of ab exercises.
Remember, you can do ab exercises all day everyday and get ZERO results if you dont have a good cardio/conditioning program AND proper nutrition intake.
The best most effective way to develop your abs is not though work outs, but cardio.
the people i know with the flattest/most visible/most defined abs do the LEAST cardio, actually.
they eat "clean", lift weights, and do minimal cardio, if any at all.

Yeah, I have clearly defined abs.. from eating healthy and lifting (Squats, front squats, deadlifts, zercher squats, cleans, standing press, standing ab exercises)..only cardio I do is sprinting
