I think regular (sugar) soda is even worse, imo.

I think diet soda (and other fake sugar) screws with my palate. I won't drink it because I worry about being tempted to eat a lot.

I definitely consumed more food when drinking diet soda, as many as 6-8 cans a day.

I credit drinking diet soda as one of the main factors that has helped me keep my weight under control.

I admit I don't personally think diet sodas are healthy at all, lots of weird chemicals and all.

But, I do enjoy the taste of it as regular soda is WAY too sweet for my taste buds.

Some studies seem to show diet sodas with increase in weight gain in some people, probably because of the way people tend to have warped sense of reasoning. That is, some will think that because they avoided the sugar in soda by drinking diet, they can pig out on other foods like burgers, fries, candy, etc. Kind of like the same delusional mentality some have in thinking that exercising for an hour a day makes your body immune to gaining weight from stuffing your face with unlimited donuts, frappucino, big macs, and pan pizzas. There also seems to be some studies that suggest some people's bodies actually process artificial sweeteners almost the same as sugar (glucose spike, etc.).
