"The Jack LaLanne Show," which went national in 1959, showed housewives how to work out and eat right, becoming a staple of U.S. daytime television during a 34-year run.
I think everyone should stop wherever they are and do as many pushups, situps and jumping jacks as they can possibly do in honor of this great American - Jack Lalanne.
OH NO!!! He was definitely an inspiration of mine!!! I'm surprised he died, though he lived a long and prosperous life I thought he would live into his 100's. At 93 the guy was still lifting weights and swimming for two hours everyday. Tomorrow I'm going to do as many push ups, chin ups, pull ups, jumping jacks and burpees in honor of him, Laotzumindfu. I'm in an apartment building so it would be too late to make noise.
He was someone to look up until the day he died. So many of our TV personalities ended up caught in various scandals, etc. He was someone who was self disciplined enough to stay with his fitness program well into his 90s. I have a great deal of respect for him, and my condolences to his family.
He has been at the top of my personal "most admired" list for decades and will remain there. He was a man who lived what he believed and shared his love of a healthy lifestyle with all who would listen. A little known fact about him is that he also had a deep faith in a spiritual way and he rarely shared that publicly.
RIP Jack. Your well-lived earthly life has ended but your legacy lives on.
All that health and exercise...and he still died. Makes it all seem pretty pointless, doesn't it?
You should live so long with a sharp, clear mind and a body that was strong and healthy up to the end.
