Congratulations! Two thumbs up and a toast to FL mom.
Thanks! I am going to try the Paleo diet for one month starting february first to see if that helps me with my weight loss. I do not want to lose weight too quickly but I am aiming for a pound a week. My weight loss has been really slow for the last year even though I keep exercising so I figure it is high time to make some more changes to my diet.
I am currently reading The Paleo Solution so that I can learn more about it before I try it.
I cannot start right now for a couple of reasons. One is that the Paleo diet calls for eating few carbs,no grains or legumes and lots of protein. I have a tight grocery budget as it is and this month it is not in the budget for me to buy the extras that I will be eating. I will be the only one in the household who is going paleo so that minimizes the cost but I still need to plan way ahead for it. I also need time to learn more about the dos and don'ts of the diet.
I have not been following a particular diet up to this point.I have just been working out several times a week doing lots of cardio, some strengthening/toning and eating in moderation. I would have treats occasionally but would not overdo it. I still do and I made a bigger effort to make sure I got in more healthy food.
I just read today that 8% of those who make realistic resolutions keep them and that 26% make it halfway through the year.
I hope I'm one of the 8%. Like half the world, I want to lose weight and really get healthy. I'm not unhealthy but I will be if I keep this weight on.
Share some encouragement with me -
(some of my goals - do one activity a day - work one, walk, weightlifting, Zumba, swimming)
(eat small meals 6 times a day)
(no eating after 8 PM)
(cut down on the sugars and carbs)
Reaching your goals is about 90% mental. Once you really and truly decide what it's what you want to do, actually doing it is easy. Take things a day at a time--or half a day--or an hour at a time if you need to.

Uh, I don't think so. I'd say 95% of people who decide they want to lose a certain amount of weight are unsuccessful. You're better off just doing it rather than thinking about it. Eating less and exercising more shouldn't take a whole lot of advanced planning. It's pretty simple: stop shoveling food in your mouth, put on some athletic shoes and get outside.

My experience was different, or we're not talking about the same thing. I found that once I made the decision to lose weight and exercise better, and not just to try, or to do my best, or give it a shot, the rest was easy. I no longer had to decide day by day or meal by meal what I was going to do. If it didn't fit into the plan, I didn't do it. For me, it was a subtle, but profound difference in thinking.

Slow weight loss is the best. Accelerated weight loss and crazy diets are hard to maintain and are more likely to eventually sabotage the quick weight loss, when you take a 60 day break, or when you have to sit out for the Holidays - thanksgiving to the new year.
