I just read today that 8% of those who make realistic resolutions keep them and that 26% make it halfway through the year.

I hope I'm one of the 8%. Like half the world, I want to lose weight and really get healthy. I'm not unhealthy but I will be if I keep this weight on.

Share some encouragement with me -

(some of my goals - do one activity a day - work one, walk, weightlifting, Zumba, swimming)

(eat small meals 6 times a day)

(no eating after 8 PM)

(cut down on the sugars and carbs)

Sounds like a reasonable plan. I would add to challenge yourself. Make sure your exercise is keeping your heart rate up. Make mini fitness goals. They can be very rewarding when you attain them. Then make another one. Always strive to push yourself (within your own limits of course).

You can do it. It takes commitment.

If you use a planner write your goals in it. Otherwise write them somewhere you will see them each day. Review your progress monthly or weekly. Think of it as project management. Your project is you.

If you do the cooking post the goals relevant to your diet prominently in your kitchen. If you slip just pick yourself back up and keep going.

Good luck.

I agree with this. I write 5-7 goals that I want to accomplish each year and put them on my bedroom door. They are the first thing I see when i wake up and the last one before I go to bed. Seeing your goals is a constant reminder of what you should focus on.

I also cook enough lunches and dinners for five days on Sundays. I bring my lunch to work every day and have my dinner ready when I get home. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. I have 3 fitness goals for this year: run a 5K (not a runner so it's challengin enough), finish the Spartan Race, and have the butt I had years ago, lol (It was round and firm, very toned). Already working on all of these. Exercising 5-6 days a week.

Count me in that 8%. I made up my mind to lose weight in 2010. I set out to lose 100 pounds. I am almost halfway there.

I need to do the prep work for the office lunches. I plan to eat 6 small sizes a day - stop before 7 preferably (I put down 8 PM just in case I screw up b/c 7 is still kind of early in my life).

Starting off this year on a weekend and a holiday was a good start. I do go walking today and saw lots of others so I know I'm not alone. Also, my 2 furbabies are always very happy to go with me

This forum requires before and after photos of round, firm butt.
