I don't agree. At a community college you are expected to put in just as much work as a tier 1 university. The people who don't put in the same amount of work will not see the same results and therefore not be as successful as the people who work harder and get better grades.

Someone who goes to community college and slacks off/doesn't get high grades is wasting their own time and money.

OP, I like the idea of no scales, since people (maybe especially women) tend to get fixated on them.

When I lived in Ann Arbor, before I had my own treadmill I would use my apartment complex's. There was a scale in there and I would see teenage girls weigh themselves, work out, then weigh themselves again, then moan about how fat they were as they got back on some exercise machine. I didn't think it was my business to say anything, but I thought it was really sad.

Planet Fitness sounds like the kind of gym I would like, if I didn't have my own equipment now (harder to make excuses if you have your own stuff!).

A. PF is $10 a month
B. They have lots of cardio machines (and you know lots of people only do cardio)
C. They have enough machines and free weights for someone to get started with

You may eventually outgrow it, a gym aimed at Joe Average that is not intimidating is a great idea.

Oh, I did. But, your intent has outpaced what you say after the fact.

Is that the one that doesn't allow deadlifting?

You are going to a gym to better yourself and work out hard and these people don't even have high weight dumbells. I don't understand why anyone would want to go to a place that preaches mediocracy and preaches to not work out that hard.

This place should be going out of business. What do you guys think about this??
You don't need heavy weights to get a "good workout". Most beginners/older persons/women won't even touch the extremely heavy weights or dbs anyway, so what's your beef? Just because a person isn't pressing or curling 70lb dbs their time spent in the gym is useless?

PF is promoting cardio-heavy gyms nationwide at a very affordable rate. So although it may not be for some (burger09), it is more than enough for the average joe who wants to get in shape.

Ignorance at its finest.

I could never workout in any gym. Imagine what its like trying to workout when people know you are a trainer. Forget it.

I understand the marketing concept they are trying to push.

Ive had 3 gym memberships in my life, and every gym I went to had the same group of gym rats, who made fun of newbies, overweight or those that didnt have proper clothing or didnt know how to use the equipment. Sad to say the people they were laughing at, had more interesting lives than spending 2.5 hours in the gym everyday doing bicep curls. I know for a fact that many people dont go because they are annoyed by this type of occurance. Shame.

I would never join a Planet Fitness, and yes it is a bit pathetic compared to most other gyms, but I understand the type of people they are marketing to. They are basically like a Curves, which IMO is one of the worst gyms ever, but the solution is just dont go there.
