ugh, I could only watch a few seconds of that. I ran marathon last nov, and around mile 22 felt cramps coming on first in one calf, then the other. I slowed way down and jogged it in. Picked up the pace a little bit for the very last 1.2 miles, but still almost a minute slower than I had run miles 1-22.
And when I climbed into my truck to drive home, one quad cramped horribly, so that I had to sit for a couple minutes before I felt ready to drive.
It occurred to me that eating candy seems to induce muscle cramps for me. I trained a little using gels in long runs, as they tell you to, but never got cramps in training. In the marathon I drank gatorade and ate 2 GU packets, both of which contain sugar. Likely the Gatorade they use contains HFCS. I wonder if it would not be better to use some form of non-sugary carbs, and drink only water. I think I am going to try that next marathon.
I rarely get cramps but I got a nasty charley horse in my thigh when I turned my leg funny as I was getting out of my car one day after a quick trip to the store. Wow did that ever hurt. Luckily it didn't last very long.
I can't imagine having awful cramp after cramp after cramp like that guy. Yikes!
