Im sure you have seen these on tv...They hook over the doorframe just like those towel racks or wreath hangers. Has anyone tried one of these? Do you think it would rip off the frame or damage it? Or do they slip?
I know! And I do not think the LL would be too happy about that one.
I think maybe I could get away with it as the frames don't budge with my finger tip lifts but I still worry or if the boyfriend tried to test 200+lbs....I am afraid of the ~ crash ~ that would ensue.
I live in a house not an apartment or rental property but I HIGHLY recommend an over the door pull up bar like the Iron Gym which you can find in local stores. I've had mine for a year now and I love it so much! It's amazing how I went to doing only a few reps to a high amount of reps, just in three weeks of having it. I also love the ab straps to work the abs. For those students in High School who want to build muscle, this would be a great gift for them.
I have one. Works great. It never thought about falling out either although i am fairly lean, but my friend have used it too and some of them are big mofos
It depends, my wife and I are both doing p90x. She uses the door mounted one, but I couldn't. I weighed about 235lbs to start and that was too much stress to put on the door frame, the sheetrock around it started to crack. I purchased a power tower (pull up and dip bar station) it was only about $180.
Me too!!! Actually, I have used it... but it has been a LONG TIME.
Despite this.... I do recommend to the OP.
It does NOT damage the door frame. It basically works in that the pressure is on both sides of the wall... as opposed to actually hanging on the door frame.
I found a whole bunch of videos on YouTube regarding both the Iron Gym and the p90x (competing products). It looks like the p90x is better engineered but I bet both are fine. It looks like they can support a lot of weight without damaging the walls or door frame. I was looking for something that could help me work my lats at home and now I think one of these two products might fit the bill without taking up a lot of space nor costing a lot of money.
Good thread... and I'm glad I came across it.
