It has not been fashionable to wear sandals with socks. However, there is a trend right now for autumn wear for wearing medium-dark colored thin crew socks with gladiator type heels for women, on days where tights/leggings are too heavy but going completely bare-toed is not enough. The woman needs to be very confident to wear this, and needs very long thin legs in proportion to the rest of her body and a short-ish skirt to pull it off.
If you're talking flat sandals like Birkies or Tevas or huaraches with socks, no, that is only a matter of comfort and is not considered stylish at all.
its not fashionable. i sometimes do it in the evenings when i get home from work. ill take off my work shoes and then ill slip on sandals just for walking my dog. but i wouldnt leave the house and go to a mall/restaurant/etc. like that. but if i did, i wouldnt care either. i dont have to be fashionable, thats my wife's job.
I have worn sandals with socks since the 60-70s. Not a fashion statement but a comfort statement...going out in the am when it's still cool but not getting home when till pm when it's considerably warmer....at mid-day take the socks off..in the am my feet are warm and cozy, in the pm my feet are cool and dry. I wear a dark pair of socks with dark sandals with boot cut jeans..a tee and a hoody or heavier if needed then shed layers as the day gets warmer. Makes sense to me.
I do it, only when it rains, and the time is past 8:30pm and I have to do some grocery shopping
I did this two days ago when it rained, it was past 8:30 and I had run out of groceries. Two people even told me the sandals look great. It's water sandals which I found off ebay years ago. I rarely get to wear them in water and when I do, I do it with pride.
It's the first one on here, looks better in real life.
It is usually seen on old guys who wear thin dress socks. It looks stupid! I have seen young fashiinistas wearing little girl ruffled socks with high-heeled sandals. I guess b/c very few wear panty hose anymore.
