I really don't see the difference between these women and the fashion models.
I don't either really. In the fashion industry and media, the Victoria's secret models are usually described as the 'curvy' models, like swimsuit model types. Carolina Kurkova is also a high fashion model, as are some of the other Victoria's secret 'angels'. But several of them are pretty well in the curvy, swimsuit, lingerie niche. You don't see them in Vogue etc., like Miranda Kerr---she does nude photos etc. She's not a high fashion model. (i think)
That was the point of my original post.
Even what is called 'curvy' in the media is actually a quite slim woman, remember the 'angels' are on average ~ 5'10'' 120 lbs with maybe a B/C cup bust and pretty slim hips and butt, no outrageous curves either. So my point is that men and women still seem to think the most beautiful and desirable women are very slim women with a hint of curves.
While Karlie Kloss, the 'high fashion' model is 5'11' , ~ 117 lbs, and she's about 17 in that photo.
Interesting comments about the "trophy wife." Some guy that is an athlete, CEO, politician or celebrity is going to most likely always going to have a bride that looks like a Fox News anchor (white, slender, B/C cup, 5'7"-5"9, straight blonde or bruneete hair). He's almost never going to have a King Magazine or XL girls covergirl or even a Christina Hendricks/Kat Dennings type or anything else considered "outside the norm." There would just be too many negative comments about him and his choice of mate to deal with from his peers. But then these are the guys who tend to have the most rocky relationships right? I'm not going to make any blanket statements, but I think most men WOULD prefer a woman with curves even the ones considered ridiculous or fake or obsecene here but they'd rather not marry them for fear of people thinking they married a **** star or scripper.
This is an excellent point... I have a very similar body to Christina Hendricks (except I'm 6'1) and my ex told me he was embarrassed to be seen with me in public because I looked too much like a 'porn star' and it made him look bad. He NEVER invited me to his company events and the breaking point in our relationship was when I found out he attended his works Christmas party when he told me he was just 'going out for a few beers with friends'. I found out about it from one of his coworkers wives.
So yes, I'd have to agree that while men may prefer a woman with 'curves', they're going to pick the shorter, thinner woman to fit in with their peers.

Skinny women look like women who are skinny, NOT men. Nitwit.
I suppose I shouldn't expect anything better than name-calling, from someone outrageously jealous of my situation. Yes sir, I have it made. I go to bed every night with the most beautiful woman alive, we're naked, and there's absolutely nothing illicit about anything we do. I LIVE every man's fantasy. I can see why that'd make some people jealous to the point of resorting to infantile name-calling. That error is ALWAYS expected.

Not all guys. Men tend to have one certain aspect of a woman's physique that they prefer over the rest. At the risk of objectifying women, those tend to be boobs, belly, and butt. Not all guys like big boobs. You may find a "belly man" who doesn't care about big boobs or a shapely butt as long as he gets the kind of belly he likes (whether he likes 'em big and round, or well-toned with washboard abs). And, guys who like big boobs generally don't care much about the belly because big boobs require a lot of fat... the amount of fat necessary to produce big boobs will also cause the belly to be a bit bigger as well. On and on and on.

Though I don't read those magazines, it would be interesting to go back to the Playboy magazines of the 1950s and compare the figures of the women in those issues to the figures of the women in today's issues. I would wager that we'd see a measurable difference. So have men's ideals for beauty changed? Yes, but only because society has changed them. If there was one absolute standard for beauty, how is it that we've gone from the Hollywood standard being someone like Lillian Russell (5'8", 200 lbs) to someone like Angelina Jolie (no explanation necessary) in barely more than 100 years? The answer lies in how people can cave to the power of suggestion.

Not me. I picked one taller and fatter. Of course, my "give a crap about what other people think of me" vanished in my teenage years. Men who will choose a particular type of woman just to fit in with their peers are not worth dating. And my wife and I are a professional entertainers, too... meaning that my wife, in all of her almost-400-pound glory, is in the spotlight with me constantly, in places with a lot of people. I have to tell you, it has had zero negative impact on our business... and quite possibly has had a very positive impact thereon. Not everyone is brainwashed to believe that fat people are subhuman or otherwise image-damaging.

You're one of the very, very few then. Most men will not date a woman publicly if she's bigger than he is.

Erm, as a heterosexual female, no, I am not jealous. I'm also A-okay with anyone finding any size attractive. What's not okay is using false derogatory terms to dismiss millions of women because they don't happen to be your physical preference. Saying thin women look like men or sticks or twigs or little boys is no more acceptable than calling overweight women whales, pigs, or blimps.
So if you don't want to be called names, don't act like the names you're called.
