Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD, also body dysmorphia, dysmorphic syndrome; originally dysmorphophobia) is a type of mental illness, a somatoform disorder, wherein the affected person is concerned with body image, manifested as excessive concern about and preoccupation with a perceived defect of their physical features. The person thinks they have a defect in either one feature or several features of their body, which causes psychological distress that causes clinically significant distress or impairs occupational or social functioning. Often BDD co-occurs with emotional depression and anxiety, social withdrawal or social isolation.
I don't like my West African bone structure at all. I was hoping there would be surgery that could make my head shape look less African. does this exist?
For someone who has unlimited financial resources, yes. But you said in other threads you cannot afford the services of a psychologist. Such complicated surgery, which would be for cosmetic purposes only and not covered by insurance, would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. It may take more than one lengthy surgical procedure and an extremely painful recovery period each time. And it would not change who you are inside.

I don't know but it won't help you anyway, because what you need is a lot of psychiatric care. Period.
You should be making appointments with plastic surgeon's, not asking here.
Seriously!
If you are remotely seriously, DO IT ALREADY! PLEASE!!!!
I don't care about your financial situation. Get 5 credit cards if you have to. Visit a bank for a loan. Consult with a plastic surgeon at once and find a way to look the way you want so you can stop posting this inane shizz!
I have been reading your posts and what you need is a psychiatrist
I tend to agree with this.
My sister is a psychologist and for a while she worked for a plastic surgery practice. Her job was to determine how healthy and realistic potential patient's goals and expectations were. She recommended against surgery for people who had unrealistic expectations. I am pretty sure "wanting to look less like a West African person" would have gotten a thumbs-down.
Frankly I think being so unhappy with my looks that I would want to remodel my bone structure and apparent ethnicity to be a very disordered and sad goal. It didn't work out too well for Michael Jackson, did it?
That will not make you happy.
I know you don't believe it but I really think it is so.
A psychiatrist might help you to stop hating yourself though....and that is what you need, I believe.
There is nothing wrong with West African features! I am of West African descent and I always get compliments on my eye shape. A lot of West Africans have beautiful eye shapes as well as other features. I wouldn't change a thing about myself (well maybe my acne scarring lol). I figure if I were to get in a bad car accident and become disfigured, I would be wishing I looked like what I do now. So, it is hard for me to be unhappy with the way I look and spend a lot of time dwelling on it.
I sure hope this is a troll thread!
