I was 23 at that time. Corporate Christmas party. It was a big deal.
I decided to get dressed up, make up and all. I worked with this guy every day - he was married but worked with all of us side by side.
I go to the Christmas party and no one recognized me. A couple of people finally figured it out but I was rather shocked and this guy kept asking me out (he was married) - I left a couple of hours later (by myself) but I still have the pictures and show my kids (they are shocked it was me).
Do you actually understand any of what you typed here?
Can you explain this in old people English?
In "Old English ", this is what he is trying to say:
His friends could no longer recognize him after losing weight. Many were surprised he didn't gain any weight. Even his best friend didn't realize him till the poster started speaking.
I've gained and lost weight a few times in my life. My most recent loss (which is still in progress) has been around 35-37 lbs, give or take.
I've never been not recognized, but mostly people will tell me I look good, or say, "have you lost weight", things like that.
Most recently I've had a couple of older (my age and older) people ask me if I'm losing weight on purpose! I guess being older, working in a pharmacy, seeing plenty of older and sick people accounts for that.
I do remember that in high school one time I dressed in a newer outfit (I was extremely shy and un-noticeable by design at that time) and my English teacher told me I looked so nice he didn't recognize me! Uhh, thank you, I think??
Lord yes, I stood up to speak at my stepdad's funeral and afterwards one of his sons came up to me and asked if my mom was there. Even my mom didn't know me! She's old, though, and, being a recluse was really stressed so... Once she got in the car she knew who I was and spoke to me fine. But really? "Is your mom here?" Did they think my stepdad had yet ANOTHER ex wife they didn't know about? lol
It's weird that most co-workers or acquaintances can't recognize me without my glasses. But they do have this curious look like they have seen me before
I colored my long hair black a week ago, got it curled at the salon, put on lipstick and a 60's dress with polka dots and went to a Johnny Cash revival concert.
Ran into some motorcycle buddies and some coworkers who didn't recognize me. That was fun.
