I hate it when people tan all the time. It makes them look leathery, freckly, and fake. I like natural skin tones of all colors, from black to brown to very white, but I don't like skin that looks UV toasted.

And its so unhealthy.

Has the tanning industry slowed down or is it still in full swing?

Artificial tanning is unhealthy, but getting real sunshine, I believe, is immensely beneficial to one's health.

It's true. It ages the skin prematurely. And blond hair with caramel-colored skin looks really unnatural.

However, too much natural sunlight does the same. There's a happy medium between getting enough sunshine for a healthy dose of Vitamin D, and spending too much time in the sun.

I think some people opt now for the spray-tan as the 'healthy alternative'.. which is just even more strange to me..

I go outside and tan while reading a real book, drinking beer, and eating beef jerky. We are all gonna die sometime, and by God I'm gonna enjoy myself while I'm here.

UV rays damage skin, period.

Exposure to sunlight does have health benefits, but that doesn't negate the reality that it still damages skin.

Have you had cancer or had a loved one die of cancer? There are less painful ways to die, but, hey, your call.

I had a very dear friend die from melanoma. She fought for nearly 6 years.

I never understand any committed drive to look like or be someone you're not. Get outside in the sun sometimes so you have proper Vit D levels and protect your skin from bad stuff the rest of the time.

I'll admit that I used to frequent the tanning beds when I was younger, but I don't anymore.. I know it's unhealthy. I will still lie out in the summer though. In the wintertime, I just use self-tanners and bronzers to keep from looking like a ghost..lol. But I don't think tanning is as popular as it was 10 years ago..
