Just because glasses aren't a fashion statement for you, don't try and shame others into thinking they should follow your line of thinking.
Not cool.
WAH. What I stated is the truth, one should be more concerned with the use of the product than how they think the prouct looks to others. If one has the most stylish or current trend of glasses but the glasses don't help one see clearly what good are they?
God no! No tinted lenses. They look silly indoors. And not those transition things!
Get a kick ass pair of sunglasses.
My nails are also blue!
Speaking of *shaming others*..........

I have a pair of purple glasses, black glasses, and brown with a hint of green. I don't ever really match them to anything, I just picked them because I liked them.
I actually almost got another pair of purple ones last time. I always get compliments on the ones I have. Get what you like
Ok, went for my annual eye exam yesterday. In the process of picking frames, I couldn't decide which color, so told them I would call back later. I'm 61, but really, don't look a day over 60 Should I dress my age, or go with what I like?
I've always chosen glasses in a conservative, neutral color to go with everything. This time, I wanted something different. I first chose black, large frames, like Katie Couric wears. Then, I found some similar, large frames in a nice shade of purple. Actually, they're called cranberry, but I think they're more of a purple shade. Obviously, the black would go with everything, but the purple really looks good on me. I have blue eyes, and it compliments them.
So, go for conservative, or be a "wild woman?" I just think the purple wouldn't go with everything, while the black would
Do what you like and what makes you happy! IMHO? I would choose purple! It will great with your blue eyes!
I am a male and I used to have a pair of glasses that had Plastic and bronze frames...The part the goes over your ears was part plastic that was a swirl of colors (gold, aqua, lavender, pink, orange, light blue)... I like them but had quite a few people ask me why since I was male I was wearing those or is that what the gay people were wearing, etc, etc..... I didn't care..I liked the glasses.....

Go purple. I find black is great for younger people, but as we age, black is too harsh a color.
This I agree! Katie Couric looks great in her black frames, but not at my age. Its not a social thing, its what looks good on me. The black is too much, it drains the color from my face, and seems to highlight wrinkles----not that I have many.
The purple is not a gaudy shade, and seems to brighten up my face, and enhance my eye color--blue.
Go wild and pick what you want! I have a pair of purple prescription lenses but they are sunglasses. They don't have to match your outfits! I'm sure you'll rock them.

For those who haven't read my last post, Optician here. Here's the deal about Transitions:
Many people don't like them because they stay dark for a few minutes when they go indoors. That is true but the vision is not compromised when you go inside; it's just a little darker until it turns light again. Transitions are NOT a sunglass. They do NOT get as dark as a sunglass. If you don't want super dark, they are fine, but if you do, sunglasses are best. If you have cataracts. they can help cut that irritating glare that you experience while driving. They do not darken at night at all.
There are three levels of Transitions: regular, which does not get dark in your car, Xtractive, which partially darkens in your car, and Transvantage, which partially darkens in your car and offers UV protection. If you have tinted windows or wear hats it blocks the action of the Transitions so they don't work as well. If you want them as dark as possible, get a plastic lens, not polycarbonate, Trivex, or hi-index. There are two colors available, brown or grey. You can only get them in single vision, lined bifocal, or progressive lenses, not trifocal at this time. Oh, one more thing. They are rarely covered well by insurance: 50% at best, and not at all with Medicare. I hope that explains thing well for you guys!
