The no-show look is cool for me with shorts or athletic clothes, but I admit to finding it a bit off putting in more formal clothing, like the picture of Chris Pine. So when the guy sits and the pants hike up, a few inches of his hairy legs are going to be sticking out the bottom? Not attractive. Mind you, Pine's a Hollywood actor and therefore has probably removed all of his body hair, so maybe that's not an issue for him. lol
I am not sure it is true that many women don't wear socks. I think that maybe what you are thinking is sockless is a pair of Peds, if not nylons.
I don't wear socks with a lot of my shoes, they just aren't made to be worn with socks. In the winter I'll sometimes wear tights, but no way am I doing that in the summer.
It doesn't bother me, but if I stop to think about it (which I rarely do), I suspect that their shoes really stink.
The point of sock is to catch the sweat and skin oils on fabric that is easily washed instead of letting it soak into the shoe leather.

Once upon a time I wore a pair of tennis shoes without socks for a few months. I had to throw them away; I could not get the stench out. I have always worn socks after that.
It's a look that Chris Pine has been very partial to lately. He like Louboutin loafers, which are meant to be worn without socks. Definitely not a laziness thing.

Unless the guy is wearing shorts with sandals I don't like the "no socks" look. Just my opinion!
