I don't know why, but I absolutely a CAN NOT stand khaki pants, I think they look ugly, weird, and look lame. it's like when I see people wear them I cringe!
anyone else feel this way? I always thought jeans were much better IMO

It is because many people by them excessively baggy fit, then tuck their shirt in and declare themselves "business casual." Also, due to the size being ridiculous, they pull them way up and overall look like tools.

A nice set of khaki colored pants with a good cut looks real sharp.

Worse is khaki-colored cargo shorts. I see those around here on older men, who also wear white socks with their sandals. Blah!

I agree, Khaki pants are UGLY. But they're a staple of business casual where blue jeans aren't allowed, which are usually much more attractive.

edited to add:

Okay, when I see elderly men wearing them, it's charming. I do get that. Khaki pants are an older gentleman's outfit, like a hat used to be.

What style? There are many. Some are more stylish than others. It really doesn't matter that jeans are "better" when you aren't allowed to wear jeans to work. They serve 2 different purposes.

i can offer a good alternative, levis khaki twill in the blue jeans style. I usually pick up 559s , the have limited colors in a light weight fabric. Another option is a much lighter, cream color.

regular khaki pleated or flat, it just feels like wearing a uniform at an electronics store. the gap/ banana republic look of the early 90's just aint cutting it no more. I also cant stand to wear the brown color grid , except for footwear.

I also have a thing about wearing dark black slacks. I feel too much like a waiter.

I love khaki pants. I just think they are a great classic look that could be dressed up or down.

Khaki pants aren't so bad. Try looking at the teal polyester pantsuits that were popular in the 1970's. After seeing just a glimpse of those, you'd adore khaki pants. If the teal isn't bad enough, there was that pink/peach version, too. With a sewn in 'crease' in the front of each leg. In double knit. 100% polyester. Khakis would be a wonderful thing after those.
