I always thought "brunette" meant dark brown all the way to black. I only somewhat recently found out that that wasn't the case.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always considered Robert Redford, Bryan Adams, and Ned Vaughn, from "China Beach," to be strawberry blonds, for starters. Not sure if others would agree.
I've never seen Robert Redford in real life. On film, I didn't notice the strawberry, if there was any, in his blond.
It's tough to find a real blonde --unless you are living in Europe. In the USA, they are almost extinct and as rare as the Dodo bird.
I find most of the grown up "blondes" are of the bottled, phony, high maintenance sort. That's a turn off in and of itself..
Pickle, you should know better than that! I know entire familes of blondes. If the kids are blond, you know the mother's a natural blonde. European descendants live right here among us, in America, you know. They didn't lose their genes for blond hair when they crossed the ocean.
Do you also suspect blond males of being fake blonds, or do you only bash blonde women?
It's what's under her hair that counts. I wouldn't have dated a crew cut or ultra-short cut, in my dating days, but there's more to a woman than her hair color.
I knew a kid in college who was always ranting and raving about "Strawberry blonde, strawberry blonde!" Whatever.
One of the weirdest women I ever dated had a gorgeous, luscious head of beautiful red hair. That doesn't make the issues go away, though.

I agree. Before they grayed, both my father and mother-in-law were natural blondes. My husband is also a natural blond. A good friend, who I've known for more than twenty years, has the most lovely blonde hair I've ever seen, and it definitely doesn't come from a bottle. Her two children also have amazing blonde hair.
To me it's kind of a dated argument. With so many women getting balayage/ombre/etc. there's a whole area of in-between aka "bronde". Like me, I'm a natural brunette with dark features and pale skin. There's no way I could ever pull off full-on blonde. Just like I would look hideous as a redhead. But I can have layers of softly painted caramel and honey tones woven in gradually that look gorgeous and natural, a slight touch of blonde thrown in for dimension maybe but that's it. It's best not veer too far away from what nature gave you, it tends to look awful and cheap.
Totally agree. My natural hair is very light ash brown - kind of blah. I'm pale so I love the 'bronde' shades that really require very little maintenance but gives me some highlights and movement.
There are so many ways now to highlight and lowlight and everything in between. It's a dated argument.
I'm more 'blonde' right now than I usually am (because my hair stylist moved away, sad face) but it's still not like 'snowball' blonde. Ha!
Bottom line - it all depends on your skin tone and natural color as to what hair color looks best.

Do I recall that there used to be a poster who was absolutely obsessed with finding a blonde woman to date and ranted about American women being fake blondes all the time? It was kind of creepy.

Yes, there was. I think Elliot Rodgers posted a few rants here briefly. Very creepy!

Thought so, but my memory of it is vague. Very weird. Natural blondes aren't nearly as common brunettes, but they're certainly not purple zebras. They definitely exist. I married one.
