Or Christalle Chanel. It's an old classic too.

Maybe a gift card for Jo Malone if it’s sold near you. So many different single or few note scents and thy are fun to mix...in fact they are intended to mix.
Very high end but not hideously expensive per bottle. Problem is...you end up with a lot of bottles.

I used to wear Creed’s “Green Irish Tweed”. It’s supposed to be for men but I love the scent. And I hate cloying and flowery fragrances.

“Some really good perfumes right now” might be something she (or you) hates, or can’t tolerate when it is on her skin.
So true. My husband once gave me a bottle of Quelques Fleur “L ‘Original” on the recommendation of a salesperson.
Hideously expensive (for me anyway) and so flowery I thought I’d choke. He was so proud of it that I didn’t return it. It sat for years unused before I finally pitched it.

Another one I like, is Estee Lauder's "Beautiful". Delicate, reasonable price, and not nauseating.

Have these on my tray, faves in this order:

Sexy Amber (Kors);

L'Air DuTemps (for summer only);

Paris (Yves St.Laurent);

Obsession (Calvin Klein);

Romance (Ralph Lauren);

Shalimar is a classic; but, as has been noted, perfume is a very personal choice. Get her a small amount of Shalimar, Chanel #5, or something that is light and delicate in scent but that is thought to be an elegant scent (ask at the perfume counter of a good department store).

I really wanted to like it because it is a classic but I just hate it...on me and everyone else.

Since we are heading to Fall/Winter season, Tom Ford Oud Wood would be perfect. Be prepared to spend around $300-500 bucks.
