While COVID-19 will lead to fashion companies to shift their selling seasons of their main collections (spring/summer and fall/winter), with the elimination of pre-collections from higher-end brands (namely pre-fall and resort/cruise), could warm climates be the biggest loser out of all of this?
These pre-collections are popular in warm climates since it doesn't get cold enough to wear a lot of products from fall/winter collections. Pre-fall provides clothing for warmer weather in fall colors, while resort/cruise is mainly targeted towards rich snowbirds who go to a warm climate for the winter. Perhaps some warmer-weather clothing can be incorporated within fall/winter for these regions, but the big question is whether or not the higher-end fashion brands will accommodate warmer climates by selling spring/summer collections earlier in these regions than up north.
