I wear the same thing to bed year round whether it's 50° outside or -10°. I sleep in just my underwear. Anything else is too constricting for me. Occasionally I'll fall asleep in my t-shirt and I'll wake up with it all twisted around me and I rip that sucker off so fast.
I do add flannel sheets to the bed and a thick comforter, so I am toasty warm in the winter, even in just my undies.
For the most part, I cannot sleep in anything other than socks if my tootsies are freezing cold & I'm in a very cold locale.
If I have any kind of clothing on, it keeps me awake, pulling & tugging at fabric that bunches up at the knees, covers my neck & makes me claustrophobic, creases at the elbows. It will keep me awake for hours & I'll finally sit bolt upright, primal scream & rip off clothing to toss across the room like Tom Brady going for a touchdown toss.
Ugh... I hate night clothes. I regulate my comfort by more or less blankets & comforters. I also keep the heat or a/c to very comfy levels, so I'm never too hot or cold inside.
The only exception... if I'm ill with a cold/flu (which happens every 800-yrs), I'll sleep in PJs. I wear PJs bottoms during the day, if at home... I live alone... I don't dress for looks in the house, just comfort. If someone's there, I'm dressed/fixed up & presentable.
A cat is like a a mini, or not so mini in case of ChaCha, furry heating pillow which may or may not make white noise as in purring or snoring. Perfect for a cold night.
Often a bathrobe, either by itself, over underwear, over a bathing suit, or over sweatpants and a T shirt.
Or sometimes a shirt with athletic shorts and leggings.
