Come on what threat does Fort Smith pose to you? Everyone knows NWA is booming and Fort Smith is what it is.
I think Fort Smith has decent potential if only it had some leadership. I might end up in Springdale or somewhere if things keep going the way they are going but I would like to see FS turn it around.

It is because most people from NWA think that NWA is the capital of the universe and are too caught up in their narrow-minded mentality to realize that any other place even exsists.

In the past, Ft Smith was a short drive away that had certain shopping and dining that NWA didn't have. Now that NWA has all the shopping and dining most people do not have a reason to go to Ft Smith anymore. I've never heard anyone from NWA say Ft Smith was threat. What kind of a threat can Ft Smith have against NWA? If any nearby city could be a threat to NWA it would be Springfield, Mo.

GetmeoutofAR, who have you met in NWA that believes that NWA is capital of the universe? I've never know anyone to be like that since I moved here. You must be talking with too many Benton county people.

yes primarily Benton county people, I dont really think Springfield, MO poses much of a threat to NWA, I'd say NWA's closest competitors are in the Tulsa, Ok area such as Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow maybe in population growth but I was thinking more along the lines growing businesses.

I never said anyone said Fort Smith was a threat to NWA. I just meant Fort Smith is not a threat to NWA so why are people always putting it down on this forum.

Do you even post anything positive? No, we are not narrow-minded, many of us do not hate Ft Smith, but I, for one, know when we decided to re-locate we gave Ft Smith consideration as well as a few places other than BV. We looked throughout OK as well. For us, Ft Smith was not the place we wanted to spend the rest of our lives. This isn't narrow-mindednes, it is just personal likes. If nothing else it lacks personality, or maybe identity, I am not sure what you would call it. The city is just there...that's all.

I am not trying to support ft. Smith, I despise the town myself, im just noting a certain spirit and outlook that NW AR has. NW AR has many fine qualities. I recogize both the good and bad, I should know, I've lived here a good while, but Ive also lived other places and traveled extensively

I didn't mean that everyone in NWA literaly hates FS and most people in FS like to vistit NWA. I'm just saying that Fort Smith may not be as progressive but we are still razorback country.

Well, I don't like Fort Smith because of the high population and increasing crime.

And I could give a rat's bare arse about Northwest Arkansas, so that has nothing to do with it. I don't get what all the fuss is about with that place either. Any time I hear the word "progressive" about a town or towns it just means I should hit the pedal a little harder and drive right on through.
