I forgot about that.

When I saw the amount for cable for her mother I was thinking it was about what I pay but I forgot that I have the internet and phone on there too as well as all the movie chanels.

I have six kids too. I don't understand the relevance?

ETA:
OK, I guess I'm missing something because I don't understand the mpbs thing?
You must have a whole lot of extras on your cable package if you pay that much. If you are truly looking to cut costs, and not just complain, that's a place you could save some money.

I don't think housing is or lets say rents should be cheaper than they are.

I don't consider FL home myself, esp where I live.
I like St Pete/Tampa but in the long run, I still see myself living somewhere else.

Where as my 803sqf apartment is 130.00 in summer and 95.00 in winter. When I was on her car insurance it was 80.00 a month now by myself in florida it is 130.00 (mind you i have no tickets, and one accident which was his fault)
I find these prices hard to believe. I just moved down from Orange County New York and my bills were NOWHERE near these. I will say that I pay 99.00 month here for FIOs Internet, TV, Phone for 4 TV's; 2 with DVR's. What were your mom's Oil bills in the winter? Also, your mom must have received a multi-policy discount with her cars and her homeowners discount through the same insurance company.

I like Tampa - don't miss my old town. There's so much to do here - golf courses everywhere, nice beaches, rock concerts (saw Aerosmith, Santana in the last few weeks), symphony (Florida Orchestra), pro baseball, pro golf tour, pro football, NHL, and NBA is only 1 1/2 hr drive away (Orlando). I've lived all over the world (Hawaii, Cali, Texas, Seattle, Europe) and haven't found any of those places offering as much as I get from the Tampa area.

I'm retired military and wherever I plant myself I call home. I worked for the last 22 years in Oklahoma City and retired to Homosassa last year and have not once looked back or regret my move. I love it here!

Angry Fort Lauderdale

Every day there are new things I miss during my new (3months) life in Florida.
I miss the doctors who seemed to have a real interest in helping me maintain my good health and my 'quality of life'. I miss the red-headed woodpeckers, the blue jays, the robins, the owls, the red squirrels, the occasional deer. I miss the reasonably priced restaurants, the high quality dinner theaters, the outdoor theatre play-houses, the real bar-b-que food, the friends of more than 50 years, the auto traffic by drivers who have a modicum of courtesy, the reasonable traffic flow, even the snow storms which gave me an excuse to obtain some real exercise during clearing our long driveway. Every night as I try to sleep I resort to my underlying feeling that this is all temporary and some day I'll move back to Missouri.
