Can i become a resident if i join a community college for tuition purposes when i join Florida state university or university of Florida .would i be instate?
Assuming i would cut all ties to my state change drivers license etc...
I would also get a part time job and file taxes.

No you can not. You can read about instate tuition rules here (the rules listed apply to all schools):

University of Florida - Admissions

they have highlighted this part which is the most important:

However, state statute specifies additional requirements for a student to be classified as an in-state resident for tuition purposes. Most importantly: Living in or attending school in Florida will not, in itself, establish legal residence for tuition purposes.

I believe you have to have been a resident for at least a year to receive in-state tuition, but perhaps someone else may have more definitive information.

Follow the link above for more information. Florida higher education is effectively broke right now, and they will look for any excuse possible to charge you out of state tuition.

^^^ Bet they'll charge you out-of-state tuition even for those 3 to 6 credit hrs. Live in FL for one year, then you can attend. I know it sucks, but it'll save you a lot of money.

If you are planning on comming here and going to a community college just for instate tuition purposes it will not work no matter how many credits you are taking. I had the same view when i first attended HCC but I found out I couldn't even though I had part time job, lived here for a year, had a drivers license, and a voters registration. If you are dependent on your parents still its even more difficult. I by accident ended up pregnant so I ended up being independent and am now getting instate because I have someone else to provide for. If you over the age of 24 you should not have a problem however.

(I am 21 with a 5 year old. I ended up in college at 16)

If im 23 when i go and 24 when i join college there should be no problem correct?

why was this listed on the website of fsu? The rules are the same for all persons whether you are claiming Florida residency on your initial application or whether you are attempting to change your residency status in hopes of qualifying for in-state tuition after you have been admitted.

When you turn 24 you should have no problem as long as you have all the qualifying documents.

Yes the rules are the same for both, although reclassification is a little more strict.
