One part that gets me about it is, he is working in fast food right now and they want to come HERE for something better??? It's hard to even get a fast food job here, never mind something better... I remember when McDonalds had that big job fair 5-6 months ago here in Lee county, and 2000+ people applied for 12 jobs, some of these people were construction workers, office workers, upper management people, they who would take just about anything.

$4000 is not nearly enough to consider the move to FL, that would be enough just for first, last, and security for an apartment. Then there are electric company deposits of $200-$400, car registration fees $400-$500. Food, water deposits $100-$300.

This is why I am still in FL right now. I am saving up a good amount of money before I can go. $15,000 or more minimum. if I could up and leave, I would have left long ago. I want to have no debt to worry about and money to fall back on. I came to FL in 1994 with $350 in our pockets, but back then you could do that. I settled in right away, got a great job, and it was a whole lot cheaper to live here in FL back then...

Besides the court might not even allow you to move to Florida with your 10 year old when it is time to move. Your ex will fight it and win because how would he get visitation other then the 6 months here and 6 months there thing which hurts the kids big time.

My kids are going where I am. If I cannot go, they are not going.

I also agree with the above, no way are you in a position to move right now.

1/3 of your money will be gone with security deposit on utilities, car registrations, 1st and last months rent etc.

With no jobs you will not be eligible to buy a home without a solid income let alone having some history of working on the job.

Stay where you are, fix the family issues, save more money and try to find jobs to have lined up before you leave.

We already have far too many people who have moved to Florida and ended up losing everything they hate the state for it.

Most of us are here to educated people into making good sound decisions BEFORE you move.

The majority here believe you are not ready to move to Florida yet.
Agree 500%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I left REP 4 U....

A very impressive, honest, and straightforward post.
