You really like government controlling your life, don't you?

Do you really think that industries should give some of their profits to the public? Sounds awful SOCIALIST to me.

Let's give Scott a chance to put a stop to the unending flow of money from the State government to everything and everybody and basically start from scratch. Let him reorganize the system to where there is some control over the out flow of cash.

Everybody is going to have to bite the bullet because the uncontrolled dispensing of money has to stop.

I could say....of course that "actors" making $13,000,000 or more per movie is a complete and total waste...but who is going to regulate that? nobody...just like the "Lottery" supposedly sends money to education, same "should" happen with the movie industry where a lot of money gets trapped in a few pockets and then you get a Sick Scott doing this in FL!

In the end, it is a matter of prioritizing and our Gov doesn't understand that word very well as their priorities are totally skewed!

"The moral test of any society is how it treats its poorest and most vulnerable citizens."

My son with Down Syndrome has been on that list for close to six years. I developed a neurological disability last year. We applied for a crisis referral which cleared Tampa, so far, no answer from Tallahassee. Since we applied he had a cardiac emergency and had a pacemaker put in.

This is just disgusting. There are something like 21,000 people on that wait list. There are plenty of other places to make cuts without affecting this segment of population who already do without so much. Some of the caregivers are aging and disabled themselves.

Florida just sucks. I wish we could leave, but it seems we are stuck.

While reading this thread, that quote was running through my mind.
Says a lot about the current administration.

How is it socialism to want the state money to be spent on the people who gave that money to the state via taxation. If anything is "socialist," it's taking from the people to give a one of a kind $5 million tax break to Darden Restaurants,. From each (middle class person) according to their ability to each (corporation) according to their need/desire.

Oh and PS: You really like business controlling your life, don't you?? Do you really think that the public should give some of their profits to industry?

I think you have "socialism" confused with "communism"! (no worries you're not the only one, most Americans can't tell the difference, unless they are naturalized citizens coming from either or regimes, no offense but this is not a popular subject in schools along with many others)

Let me put things in perspective for you, FRANCE, In Europe, is socialist, guess what, as soon as their gov does something stupid that would hurt the average Joe, UNIONS are in the street striking! I don't see many Americans in the street protesting the outrageous health care costs!??? or car insurance premiums in Florida! along with a whole other list of things AVERAGE Americans are abused with these days.

This is why the Gov doesn't do many things to **** them off there and is more concerned with their OWN well being than with wars around the world where we have no business to be in (e.g. Libya)!!!!!!!!!

Take Holland for example, Sweden, Norway......the list goes on and on, go study them first and realize that those are INDEED Gov's concerned with the well being of their people......Our Gov, should be dissolved at this point, as it is only filled with a bunch of greedy party goers who could give a rats ass about the Joe's of this country.

I certainly know the difference between socialism and communism.

What are the tax rates like in Europe that support their "benefits"?

Of course you dont see that type of behavior such as protesting against things that the government does not directly control, i.e. car insurance.
Insurance companies are in business, not charity. In America we shouldnt depend on the government to control such things.

I laughed when I saw Europeans protesting against the changes being made in Europe. All they want is to be coddled and provided for by the government. America is the land of the free where MOST of us dont need to depend on the government to take care of us.

I ask all immigrants the same thing. If it so great where you came from, what are you doing here?

Back in the day there used to be a bumper sticker that read:
"If your "heart sign" is not in America, then get your "picture of a donkey" out. I tell you the same thing.

Taxation? The piddly sales tax you pay? There is no state income tax, so where have they given money to the state? Most of those on SSI never put a dime into the system but they will collect until the day they die.
Business does not control my life. I have an option with what businesses I want to deal with. I am not dictated to go to the state store or the approved outlet, etc etc. A tax break spurs economic growth. Gives the business an opportunity to invest in itself for further growth which provides jobs and in turn tax revenue.

The government is not a "for profit" industry.

Here you go: (talk about taxes, read around the middle of the article) I cannot wait for 2012 to see how the Gov is going to fight like roosters!!

How the National Debt Affects You - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnews/howthenationaldebtaffectsyou - broken link)

HIGHER, but you get great health care for all, not only the RICH, Yo don't get to have private insurance companies raise premiums whenever they feel like it with no reason...the citizen is protected. That's what you get. Americans want everything for freaking free, that's not how it works, you cannot have everything and have it free too!

Of course you dont see that type of behavior such as protesting against things that the government does not directly control, i.e. car insurance.
Insurance companies are in business, not charity. In America we shouldnt depend on the government to control such things. No, you're right, we should allow a "few business men" take advantage of people instead! Yeah! That's MUCH better!

I laughed when I saw Europeans protesting against the changes being made in Europe. All they want is to be coddled and provided for by the government. America is the land of the free where MOST of us dont need to depend on the government to take care of us. That's just ʇuɐɹouƃı. The land of the free my a**...the only thing you are "free" to do here is drown in debt! forced by everyone from credit cards to utilities, I can't call that "free" at all. If you think the Gov is not there to protect it citizens from shark business ppl etc, then why are we having one at all? let's dissolve it and see what happens! why are we having a Gov, please tell me...because so far it sure looks like the only reason is so we can fight useless wars around the world and spend our tax dollars on one thing" "ammunition"! hmm I laugh at the lack of prioritizing here where education gets the boot every time there is a chance etc. In Europe everyone speaks English, even tho each country has its own language, here in the US half of people can't even speak English! and the other half is forced to learn Spanish! give me a break!

I ask all immigrants the same thing. If it so great where you came from, what are you doing here? Change of scenery. Europeans get tired of the cold too, I know shocking! LOL Or poor wages/tax evaders...(e.g nannies, gardeners) don't want to pay taxes in their own country so they come here.... Generally educated people, are doctors here and where they came from, or other repeatable jobs, why do Americans go to work in Dubai? Japan? Germany? I just watched House Hunters the other day and the lady was a kindergarten teacher from Canada who went to The United Arab Emirates $65k a year. People travel...you should hear the ignorance that comes out of some of these people's mouths on National TV as they go to Japan and wonder how come they don't have a separate laundry room! Jeez!

Back in the day there used to be a bumper sticker that read:
"If your "heart sign" is not in America, then get your "picture of a donkey" out. I tell you the same thing. You know what I will say to this: "Take responsibility for the mistakes made and fix them for the good of your population"! That's what civilized countries DO.

Yet ours IS....under the table....don't you read the papers, and see how almost every day someone else is indicted about some fraud! or screwing some prostitute! It is preposterous to know as a "citizen" that the people running us are busy with fraud rather that finding funding for education!

Look at what this guy tried to do:
Wis. judge halts governor's union law plans - Yahoo! News

Who elected this moron? cause it sure doesn't look like " the people" did!

I read the article in your first post which read in part ..."over the past few decades, Americans have voted themselves more benefits than they are willing to pay for and at some point, something has to give. "Generally, the economic effects are less destructive if the government deals with the deficit by cutting back on spending and entitlement programs," "You'd want to reform some of the longer-term entitlement programs," such as Medicare and Social Security."

I agree 100 percent. Its time to reign in this out of control spending. It's going to hurt, its going to hurt everybody, but it has to be done. NOW.

Speaking of prostitutes and Europe whats the deal in Italy? Looks like that happens in other countries too.

Politics, in my opinion, is a fraud in itself. I mean who spends millions to get a job that pays less than 100k a year UNLESS you are making it up somewhere, collecting from lobbyists. If it was up to me, I'd BAN LOBBYISTS. They don't represent the people they represent corporate interests. The government is supposed to be "By the people, for the people".

Yes, I read the papers. I subscribe to the New York Times on line and read the St. Pete times daily. I also read Time and Newsweek regularly so I think I am roundly informed.

As far as education, I think our new gov. is doing something about it.
Reform it. Get rid of these crummy teachers who are "tenured" and feel that they don't have to perform to keep their jobs. Get paid for what you do, not what you did is my take on that.

Yes, things need to be fixed. BIG TIME. NOW. Not later.
Like I said, its gonna hurt, but if we want to survive as a nation, it has to happen.
