Hello Floridians!

My husband and I are looking to move to Florida and we are wondering where you believe is the best place to settle.
We are looking for:
1. Safe community with good schools for future children
2. An area that stays pretty warm (winter-70's) year round
3. Beach town (or short distance from)

We are in our mid 20's and would like to be near a city but NOT living right in one.

I need to be near a hospital or doctor's office for work and he needs to be near (within 45 mins max) an airport.

Thanks so much for your help!

Given the warmer temperature criteria I would recommend either Weston (Fort Lauderdale) or Wellington (West Palm Beach) in South Florida.

Some good suggestions above, but here are others that may be a little colder in the winter

Ponte Vedra Beach (Jacksonville)
Westchase (Tampa)

of course they're not violent, they leave that to the other many sex offenders and illegals. Someone has to fly under the radar or the state might be overwhelmed with too much crime! Duh!

How many times have you been victimized by violent crime, or anyone else you know personally?

Several actually.. and I live in a "nice town" in the upper class area. One included a trip to the hospital for a friend with a broken arm , surgery and 6 months of physical therapy. It wasn't domestic related he happen to be shopping in a store at the time...

Thanks for that map, Kyle. That is quite enlightening. Florida is far from the worst. I am really surprised to see Wisconsin so high on the list (my sister lives there) it always seemed so conservative to me. And Oregon - OMG!!!

Puts it all in perspective.

mjs617 - if you decide to look on the Gulf Coast side, you might check out St Petersburg down through Sarasota. Airports, beaches and hospitals can be found here, and the beaches some of the most beautiful in the country!
