C'mon dude, Tampa had a heat index over 100 today. That's hot in anybody's book.

Or lives near a river, lake, ocean, or even their swimming pool and the breeze passes over the water. When I first moved here in 1976, we didn't have an air conditioner. We lived on the river, we had a pool, and we had a big shady yard. We lived outside most of the time playing in the shade, swimming, and going to the beach. On really hot days we might take a ride in the air conditioned car and go to a movie or indoor mall sometimes. We had 2 box fans and put them in the windows and they actually cooled the whole house. (It was just a little 2 bedroom). Back then even the schools down here did not have air conditioning in some counties.

But shoot to 2004 and the weeks after the hurricanes with no electricity and I can tell you it was sort of miserable here on the coast. We slept on the patio, didn't close any doors or windows in order to catch any breeze we could. We took 3 or 4 cold showers every day. It was the longest 2 weeks.....and never want to live without air again......but know it will eventually happen again. Hoping it isn't this year. <g>
